Ok, so I've been over eating, drinking too much wine, not exercising and not looking after myself in general for a few months now. Been struggling a bit for a few reasons.
I feel over weight, tired and am always behind on everything, and not the best parent to my two boys when I'm not healthy/organised. So! Today, I will start by going for a power walk after school drop off.

I'm joining a ladies football team tonight.

I will do a healthy shop. I will keep alcohol to one night at the weekend. I will get back to myself. Anyone with me, or any tips or support??

Ok, walk done, finally. First exercise in far too long. I had come off my anti depressants, it didn't go well for me. I'm back on them, and clear headed and motivated, so while I was feeling rubbish I comfort ate and drank. But no more. I think my wake up call was the sheer amount I put away over the weekend. All I did was eat and drink and still felt hungry! No one needs that amount of food.

Me too! Well, I've been doing it for about two months. Fallen off the wagon a few times but weight has steadily been coming off.

My plan is - heavily reduce starchy carbs in my diet (but not doing a low carb diet, I don't have the time or motivation for that), doing the couch to 5k app, yoga everyday. I've always practiced yoga as a hobby and go to a class twice a week, but want to do more at home.

I've lost 3kg of my baby weight, another 3kg to go until I'm back in the 'healthy' weight range for my height. Also trying to lose the baby belly.

My 'today is the day' moment was last January, I was so sick of being overweight and never sticking to anything that I ditched sugar cold turkey and decided I would run for 10 minutes a day. The first time I ran on the treadmill I was sick, and I barely even ran.
I lost 3 stone that year, and ran very nearly 1000 miles in total. I've since kept the weight off, I've run nearly 600 miles so far this year, I've raced half marathons.... go for it OP. I think sometimes something just clicks, and it works, and it's life changing.

Good luck!

sureitsgrand · 25/06/2019 13:15

Thanks thenewaverage I really hope this is my click moment. It feels like it.

Checking in: just been for a run.

I have no kids and no work today so able to do it in the daytime.

Have to admit I ran partly because I didn't want to walk or cycle in the rain and had to go to my sisters to do her a favour. Getting wet in vest and leggings less bad (in my head). Dog fed, had a coffee now running back. Feel sick.

Anyone else?

GrouchyKiwi · 25/06/2019 16:00

Well done on the walk sureitsgrand.

I've done the carpet cleaning so now there are no excuses for not doing Pilates this evening.

RunningKatie · 25/06/2019 16:04

I am in too.
I've got an event in 2 weeks and nothing smart I own currently fits. I'm mortified at how I've got to this point.
I know whatever I do now can't impact that much but if I start today I'll at least feel better.
Our holiday is in August, I want to be back in my shorts by then. I easily have 2 stone to shift but am going to focus on a half stone at a time.

caperplips · 25/06/2019 16:18

I would like to join you all too! I am 2 stone over the point where I want to be and I am feeling sluggish and fat and old and tired. Work is super stressful and I have been 'dealing' with that by eating any old shite that I fancy and drinking wine far too often and basically blobbing out on the sofa once I get home in the evenings.

I caught sight of myself in a shop window today and honestly I could have cried.

At that stage I had already stuffed myself with an indulgent lunch :-(

But THAT IS IT - no more. I am on it and I want to be able to fit into my clothes again.

IfIwereable · 25/06/2019 16:34

I really need to lose weight!! put on so much since having DD (replaced sleep with sugar/crap)

I don't drink, so can't give that up (had maybe 1 Cider in 10 years+)

I've limited myself the treats at the weekend - not overeating just allowing 1 maybe 2 chocs and a takeaway (Friday night -Sunday)

No carb days twice a week

Only allowing 4 slices of bread a week and most weeks I don't even have the 4.

Been like this for a month. HOW HAVE I NOT LOST ANY WEIGHT!!!!! I use to eat chocolate, crisps and biscuits daily!! I could finish a packed of biscuits in 1 sitting (with a brew) 2/3takeaways a week!

WTAF!

IfIwereable · 25/06/2019 16:35

Sorry that came out really Angry didn't it. had to write it down lol

sureitsgrand · 25/06/2019 20:31

Well one day down!! I started football training tonight. It was great. Maybe just what I need to give me a kick up the bum. I'm really craving a cold beer or white wine now as a reward though. That's where most of my empty calories come from so I'm trying to resist.

OP posts:
RunningKatie · 25/06/2019 22:13

I've sat on the exercise ball and played some games with the DC instead of staring at my phone.
They both cried. Not sure that was the intended outcome Hmm

Cherrysoup · 25/06/2019 22:16

My day was a couple of weeks ago when the dh dragged me out for a woods walk. I couldn't speak at the end of it. I've been saying for ages that my head isn't in the zone for a diet. It suddenly was. No snacking except fruit, stopped breakfast, no booze until Friday night. I'm hoping for a noticeable difference within a month.

CurbsideProphet · 25/06/2019 22:28

I have 6 weeks until my wedding dress fitting. I bought a sample in a sale and it can only be made smaller, not bigger. It fastened when I bought it in early January, but I needed to lose an inch for it to be properly comfy.

Ideally I need to lose 2 stone. I'm very short and hold the weight on my tummy, hips and thighs. I lost about 2 stone 2 years ago and kept it off, so I need to go for the big push to just get a bit more off.

I need to do more exercise for my mental wellbeing. I keep thinking about couch to 5k but how do I carry my keys? Confused I do Pilates, Yoga, and a combat gym class, but I have a sitting down job which is so bad for the body Sad

This is good motivation for me. I've publicly declared my intentions now Grin

BlueSkiesLies · 25/06/2019 22:58

i keep thinking about couch to 5k but how do I carry my keys?

Oh love 😂 that sounds like a really rubbish excuse but also quite cute.

You can carry them in a bumbag, or a special running waistband, or a special running arm band and get your phone in there too. Or just take the key you need and safety pin it to your shirts/leggings.

Gertie75 · 25/06/2019 23:05

I'm in too, I lost 3 stone last year and was so looking forward to being slim for summer however I've gained 1stone 9lbs back and have gone from a size 12 to a tight 14 and am bloody miserable.

I'd bought a lovely flowery sundress that now looks awful on me and I'd have loved to wear it in this warm weather.

sureitsgrand · 25/06/2019 23:19

Gertie I have a wardrobe full of lovely clothes that don't fit. I've bought loose stuff and pretended I don't care, but no more! I could be back in some of them by....August maybe?! If I keep this mindset.

OP posts:
thenewaveragebear1983 · 26/06/2019 08:28

Curbside I use a bum bag/coin belt for my keys and phone, or I also find that men's running shorts often have good pockets (I have a great pair from primark that have stretchy shorts underneath with 'proper' shorts over the top. They aren't as short as women's ones either.

The more expensive sports brands tend to be better for things like drawstring waists, pockets etc than the cheaper/supermarket ones.

CurbsideProphet · 26/06/2019 09:38

I'll have a look online today for some kind of running waistband! I see quite a few people running past my house without a noticeable bag and I wonder if they all just keep their key under a flowerpot Grin
I don't know if jogging would be good for my knees, but I should try everything at least once Smile
I've done a 15 mins sun salutation video and I'm working standing up, so that's a good start to my day Smile

Sunseed · 26/06/2019 09:47

I'm in! Have got back into a rut of eating and drinking too much and doing no exercise. I need to shake out of this otherwise my DC's will follow my rubbish example and sit on their bums all summer holiday. Going out now for walk/run and think about healthier eating ideas.

moofolk · 26/06/2019 10:22

@sureitsgrand well done how was football?! Team sports are great.

@CurbsideProphet I went for a run yesterday. Phone in bra, headphones on and only took one key, which fits in a teeny pocket on my leggings

CurbsideProphet · 26/06/2019 10:43

@moofolk I think I'm worried about looking silly which is why I've distracted myself with the technicalities of where to put my keys Blush

GrouchyKiwi · 26/06/2019 11:07

We did our 20 minutes of Pilates last night, though it was quite late as the puppy didn't want to be put to bed. Maybe we should leave her in the room with us for added difficulty.

Drinkandknowthings · 26/06/2019 11:56

I’m in. I had my moment on Monday. It was quite warm so I thought I’d put shorts on. My legs were stuffed into them and then they wouldn’t do up. I found a picture of me wearing them 2 years ago and there was plenty of room, they actually looked a bit big.

I’m one of those people who lose weight when breastfeeding and could eat whatever I liked. But I stopped breastfeeding but didn’t stop eating. I now have 2 stone to lose.

I’ve been doing at home exercise videos while the 2 year old laughs at me (and sometimes joins in)

Eating I’m going to do Michael Mosleys fast 800. I did the 5:2 before and really liked it so I think this update will be good.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 26/06/2019 12:08

Drink we have a long running thread for Michael Mosley's blood sugar diet and fast 800 if you want to come and join us?
