What is the name of my DS nursery friend?

DS is 2 nearly 3. His speach is (usually) very articulate. He has never really had "baby talk"

He has been talking about his new friend at nursery. He loves playing with her. He wants her to come for tea. That's great. Except he says her name is Pancake. Which obviously cannot be the case. So what is her name??

We got Duke for Jude the other day at pick up time. And At-tat-a-Tata-Wee (Natalie) 🙈.

Marmite27 · 25/06/2019 16:58

Apparently I told my parents my new friend was called ‘fairy-tits’ Blush

Verity, she was named Verity Grin

Juanbablo · 25/06/2019 16:59

Pancake?! Dear me. That is very unique! Dd said there was a new girl called Lucifer, her name turned out to be Eloise.

My dd had an arch nemesis called Wiley. Thought it was quite apt until i mentioned him to the nursery teacher. "Oh, you mean Riley?!' Blush

I cannot believe the number of people who think pancake is a cute name! I love unusual names but this is one step beyond - even for me.
DS used to go to a toddler group with a boy called Maverick, I really want him to grow up to be a barrister or a tax inspector.

SparePantsAndLego · 25/06/2019 17:12

Fairy-tits! That made me laugh out loud.

amusedbush · 25/06/2019 17:18

A pp mentioned Peter - to me that is utterly run of the mill. Along with Keith.

Yeah, if you're a man aged 45 and above!

juneybean · 25/06/2019 17:22

Keith though 🤣

Wooterus · 25/06/2019 17:27

DD (2.5) came home from nursery chatting away about her new friend Vulva Shock

I haven't been able to fathom who she's actually talking about, or pluck up the courage to ask the nursery staff. She insists it's Vulva, loud and clear.

Inpursuitofhappines · 25/06/2019 17:29

DD had a friend called ‘fuck’! Took us months to realise it was BROOKE!

Fernicktylo · 25/06/2019 17:34

In reception ds was adamant his new friend was called Child. He talked about him for weeks and I got to the point of feeling sorry for poor Child, whose parents couldn't even be bothered to name him.

Turns out he did have a name and it was Charles . . .

legolife · 25/06/2019 17:34

😂😂 pancake though 😂😂

foreverhanging · 25/06/2019 17:35

Ffs pancake 🙄

nothingtowearever · 25/06/2019 17:39

Pancake 🤦🏼‍♀️ i know someone called Simba- it's not his birth name but it's a nickname that everyone, parents, teachers etc call him so maybe this is the case? I cannot believe someone called their baby pancake 😂😂

toomuchtooold · 25/06/2019 17:42

I used to work with a Keith, lovely guy. Worked with a Barry at the same company. Long live the old bloke names!

My kid has a classmate she calls Mammal but his name is Emanuel. Near enough!

MattMagnolia · 25/06/2019 17:45

We’ve had kids named trees (Willow), occupations (Harper), seasons (Summer)
Now it’s favourite foods. I await a little Dumpling, a Pizza and a Steak.

Soola · 25/06/2019 17:47

Interesting (Wink) fact

Keith was the 298th most common name given to newborn boys in the United States in 2007.

MotherTime3 · 25/06/2019 17:49

Fairy tits 😂😂😂 love it
As teenagers our friend dumped us for his new girlfriend. When we eventually confirmed his well-being, he told us he and chisel had broken up. We were baffled by this for years

JMAngel1 · 25/06/2019 17:50

My youngest used to go on and on at nursery about roller skates - she was 2 so I was worried she could hurt herself. I mentioned it to the nursery teacher - she said that they didn't allow roller skates. Bit bemused until one evening my DD came running over with a little girl - look mummy, roller skates!. What? Her mum was stood next to me and said, she's called Lola-Kate.
Mystery solved - funniest thing was me thinking that they had a load of 2 year olds on roller skates!!

JMAngel1 · 25/06/2019 17:52

Didn't read all of thread did the name turn out to be Pancake??!

averylongtimeago · 25/06/2019 17:53

I have male relatives called Richard, Ian, Gary, Nicholas, Christopher, Andrew, Peter, Ernest, John, James, Stephen, Derek, George and David. Only 3 of them are under 50.

averylongtimeago · 25/06/2019 17:56

I much prefer "proper" names. It's probably just my age and if I was 20 again my daughter would be saddled with Catkin or Sunshine

KipperTheFrog · 25/06/2019 18:05

For months when she started school, DD would always say she had played with "Jiccup". Thought that's an odd name, but oh well.
Jacob. She played with Jacob.

foxtiger · 25/06/2019 18:06

It's got to be James, George and Christopher. Am I right?

To the person who thought Peter sounds like a bus driver - I think of Peter as an extremely neutral name. Like John or Paul, the only thing I could really predict about a Peter is that he'd probably be over 40. He could be any class or background, the only proviso being that a very posh Peter probably wouldn't be known as Pete, unless he was a rock star from a posh background.

As for Pancake - I'm hoping for weird creative parents.

Megs4x3 · 25/06/2019 18:06

I recently came across 3-year-old twins named Ronnie and Reggie. It’s funny how names can be considered old-fashioned and then come back into vogue. Violet, Ruby and Ava come to mind in that regard. I can’t say I think Pancake is any worse than Honey to be honest.
