If you’re in your late forties do you ever wake up and not feel like shit?

Seems like every morning I get out of bed feeling stiff and sore and like I haven’t slept properly.
Is this just what happens when you’re 47 and does it ever get better?

Err, hello..!! Are you me ..!! Grin

TapasForTwo · 24/06/2019 19:36

No, this isn't normal. I am 60 and this doesn't happen to me. Maybe a chat with your GP is in order.

EyesOpenWide · 24/06/2019 19:37

This is me at 43.

By 3pm each day I could happily go back to bed for my night.

I’m waiting blood results for vitD deficiency, anaemia, thyroid, etc.

I'm 34. Its like the post was written by me. My feet and ankles just don't seem to work til about an hour after I wake. I honestly think I creak.

Peterpiperpickedwrong · 24/06/2019 20:07

Mid 40’s. I feel so awful and yet I am expected to -somehow- work until 67 Sad

Supersimpkin · 24/06/2019 20:10

51 and feeling miles better after I was treated for thyroid disease, anemia, vit D deficiency and a significant infection.

Blood tests will show you what to do. Good luck.

agirlcalledBede · 24/06/2019 20:12

I'm fine when I wake up, but by mid-afternoon this is me entirely. Almost 42, and been like this for years. Been treated for all sorts, but nothing makes much difference.

Singlenotsingle · 24/06/2019 20:14

I'm 67; alright in the morning but get a bit creaky later in the day

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/06/2019 20:23

Perhaps you should get your thyroid levels (all of them) and vitamine levels checked. I was suprised how many niggles and pains went away after a treatment. Even my brain started working again.

TheMarbleFaun · 24/06/2019 20:27

I’ve had blood tests all fine.
I am on HRT also

WoollyMollyMonkey · 24/06/2019 20:27

Yep. 59 and felt this way for years! Can’t remember the last time I had no pain somewhere!

Soola · 24/06/2019 20:28

In my fifties and no this didn’t happen to me.

Maybe take some joint oil.

sheshootssheimplores · 24/06/2019 20:31

I am mid forties and my diet has a massive part to play in whether I wake up stiff and sore. If I over indulge on sugary shit I wake up with a hangover. The last two days I quit gluten as I was convinced it was making me feel terrible and lo and behold I feel 1000x times better. Not tired, not stiff.

megletthesecond · 24/06/2019 20:32

Nope. Always feel like shit and numb with stress. Usually wake up in the night between 3:30-5am which doesn't help.
Feet and knees struggle downstairs in the morning. Blood pressure rock bottom.

I'm fit and eat well, never smoked and don't drink, blood tests always fine. Seem to have had an early menopause but been dismissed by two gp's and I feel too fragile to fight my corner.

BernardoTeashop · 24/06/2019 20:33

I’m with you op. I’m 46 and constantly shattered. I wake up in the morning and feel worse than I did when I went to bed. I could happily go to sleep at any given moment and have got sore joints and heavy legs
Have started taking vit d, b and evening primrose oil. Not sure what to do next

NannyRed · 24/06/2019 20:38

I’m 55 and I don’t wake up feeling sore.

Is it time for a new mattress? They do make a big difference.

lljkk · 24/06/2019 20:40

Sorry OP, I'm 51 & wake up ok, or as good as ever, anyway.
Do you do all the healthy lifestyle stuff:
no smoking
min. booze
lots of exercise
lots of F&veg
good sleep hygiene
safe calm home
relax, don't sweat the small stuff?

Pearlfish · 24/06/2019 20:44

I’m 45 and I feel fine in the morning, hope this isn’t me in 2 years!

TheMarbleFaun · 24/06/2019 20:45

Yes to all the above lljkk apart from the last one as menopause has given me massive anxiety

JMAngel1 · 24/06/2019 20:46

Not at all normal - go sugar free and super low carb. No alcohol.
HIT exercise and yoga
Try magnesium citrate to help have very restful sleep - knocks me into a coma and I wake up bouncing out of bed - 47 here too.

JMAngel1 · 24/06/2019 20:47

For anxiety, check out ashwaghanda, Perimenopause was making me very anxious too but now I'm on this, a bomb could go off and I wouldn't bat an eyelid!

TheMarbleFaun · 24/06/2019 21:02

That’s interesting JM not sure I could go sugar free though!

OP posts:
niceupthedanceagain · 24/06/2019 21:03

Yes I'm 45 and feel shit most days
Feet and knees and hands hurt
Zero energy
Go to sleep at 930 every night but always knackered
Don't drink booze or smoke have a new mattress
It's stress/peri menopause :(

NatureWillDeleteTheEvidence · 24/06/2019 21:04

I'm 33 and can feel the same if i eat sugar/carbs and dont get my daily vitamin!

Gertie75 · 24/06/2019 21:07

I'm 44 and always tired, I could happily sleep 18 hours a day but can't because of the kids.

I'm trying hard to improve my diet but after years of living on junk it's hard.
