If you’re in your late forties do you ever wake up and not feel like shit?

Seems like every morning I get out of bed feeling stiff and sore and like I haven’t slept properly.
Is this just what happens when you’re 47 and does it ever get better?

It’s weird but I have felt rough in the mornings for 10 years, like a hangover without the drink as well as pain and stiffness hobbling out of bed. But in recent months (mid-50s now) I feel a bit better. I have generally less pain and stiffness. I can’t work It out. No particular difference in diet (ok but not great) or exercise levels (don’t do enough.) The only difference is I have stopped the painkillers after a thread I started on here where the responses scared me!

Thats normal for some types of hrt rosa. Mine's the same. I feel really good on mine.

Not at all normal - go sugar free and super low carb. No alcohol.
HIT exercise and yoga
Try magnesium citrate to help have very restful sleep - knocks me into a coma and I wake up bouncing out of bed - 47 here too

It’s not normal of course. I think people totally underestimate the effects of diet, especially carbohydrate, on their health.

I’ve been keto for 2 years and am in better health than I was in my 30s. I do not feel menopausal or tired or achy, generally fed up anymore

I don't believe super low carb is at all good for you so I don't do it.

I eat a normal, balanced diet, have plenty of energy and am not constantly thinking about food and what i can or can't eat.

It's a fad.

mooncuplanding · 26/06/2019 16:45

It’s not a fad saying not to eat a lot of sugar and starch Grin

I'm 46 and generally feel fine.
I exercise loads, including weightlifting, eat ok but have plenty of not ok days. I drink more than I should and of course that makes me feel less good when I do but, by and large, I'm happy with how things are going.
Don't appear to be anywhere near menopause though, so that may be fooling me into thinking I've got it easy.

JMAngel1 - Can you let me know what make of Magnesium Citrate and Ashwaganda that you use.

I suffer from terrible insomnia and it is hard to know which ones work and which ones don't.

Thank you

When I was your age the only thing that made me feel like that was if my toddler had had a bad night. Not a problem now though although sometimes have dodgy knees from the amount of sport I did in my 40s. It's probably menopause related.
