As it's pull ups on the monkey bars today 🙄

Not sure I follow you.

Walkamileinmyshoesbeforeujudge · 19/06/2019 16:52

Yesterday was press ups in the swimming pool!!

WithAllIntenseAndPurposes · 19/06/2019 17:00

I know! Press ups in the pool is unbeatable though

Just wait for The Parents’ Race at your child’s primary school Sports Day. All the flexing and stretching prior to their magnificent sprint across Darling Toby’s playground for an audience of kids, teachers, and bladderly deficient parents like me is a cringe to behold! Confused

lovelygreenjumper · 19/06/2019 18:02

@TheVanguardSix- so true. A friend's ExH was so determined to win at his DC's first sports day that he sprinted full pelt across the finish line, overshot and ran straight in to a class of small children sitting on the floor waiting for it to end watching patiently.

TeapotofTerror · 19/06/2019 18:09

Not to derail but quick question; these Parents Races that people keep mentioning... are they mandatory? Shock

(My DC isn't at school yet and I'm alarmed at this idea!)

Gamorasgran · 19/06/2019 18:14

Teapot, only race at ours is to the pta tea stand. Parents race - the very notion!

CigarsofthePharoahs · 19/06/2019 18:24

The only race I take part in is the run to the gate to leave!

Corneliusmurphy · 19/06/2019 18:31

Definitely not compulsory but you do get occasionally get the Disney face off you kids when you say no, however am mostly immune to them.
My favourite was the year a mum who’s kids weren’t even at the school anymore just happened to appear in her sports clothes and win the mum race. The muttering after about how she should have been disqualified as she wasn’t a ‘current’ mum was hilarious. I also always enjoy the dads races where half the competitors feign ankle injuries when they lose. Grin

TeapotofTerror · 19/06/2019 18:35

Phew! Thanks! 😅

TheVanguardSix · 19/06/2019 18:36

Oh they’re definitely not mandatory. If they were, my ‘fun run’ would quickly turn into a Tena Lady sponsored Channel swim.
Right there on the school playground.
Lovely. Confused

TeapotofTerror · 19/06/2019 18:36

They do sound amusing as long as I don't have to be in them! Wink

FrenchFancie · 19/06/2019 18:37

We had to do a mum’s egg and spoon race this year. I was absolutely rubbish and came last by a very long way.....

sar302 · 19/06/2019 18:41

@TheVanguardSix My little boy is only 18 months and I've already had a panic about sports day, in a self pitying prolapse moment 😂 Good to know they're not compulsory!!

TeapotofTerror · 19/06/2019 18:43

Aw, @FrenchFancie, I bet you had all the support from those not brave enough to enter though. 🏅

MissClareRemembers · 19/06/2019 19:03

Parents races were banned at DC’s school due to health and safety concerns after a mum fell flat on her face.

Thank fuck.

FreezerBird · 19/06/2019 19:35

Last year a woman took part in the parents' race at dd's school wearing no bra and an inadequately strapped vest top.

I don't see any reason to go any further with this tale.

Walkamileinmyshoesbeforeujudge · 19/06/2019 21:13

Dd's friend's df thinks he is Peter Andre - slight look a like - tripped in the df's race. Did a total somersault and got up and kept running! Nearly wet myself!!.
He didn't win!!

WithAllIntenseAndPurposes · 19/06/2019 23:11

A parent broke their collar bone one year at my kids school.
Parents have to sign a waiver now 🙄

Mumoftwoyoungkids · 19/06/2019 23:18

There was a mum in full running gear at our sports day on Tuesday. Bit of a bugger it turned out to be an egg and spoon race.....

WithAllIntenseAndPurposes · 22/06/2019 11:39

Different day different dad doing monkey bar pull ups
He also dismounted his mountain bike mid ride before getting to the play area

Aaaah I quite like that. I used to love my dad being silly even if it was to show off how great he was as a parent. If have taken that!! Particularly as he was pretty shut inside the house.
