Why are you awake?

It's 3:15am. Why are you awake? Who else in your household is awake?

Currently me, newborn and 2 year old are awake. 7 year old is asleep next to me on the sofa as he woke up an hour ago and vomitted. 2 year old has vomitted twice. Please don't let a bug hit the house. Newborn is only 6 days old. Got 4 other kids. I can't deal with a sick bug and a newborn :(

@scarbados Oh sweetheart. Have you tried Sominex sleeping tablets? I go through phases of insomnia and they are the only thing that work.

Only one awake, DH and DS (23 mo) soundly asleep.

Since I have started weaning off sertraline, I have nightmares and wake up with palpitations. The script is always one of:

  • I'm chased by police / get arrested
  • I am fired / DH is fired / can't pay mortgage, house repossessed
  • Me/ a family member terminally ill.

Today was DF (who has 2 bypasses IRL) who was getting the third and during the surgery they discovered an osteosarcoma.

It's been every single night for more than one month. I'm shattered

Feeding my 5 month old who actually slept last night.

SoyDora · 16/06/2019 04:14

I’m basically always awake. Insomnia. Haven’t been to sleep yet tonight. 5 month old baby snoozing nicely next to me in his crib.
I average about 2 hours sleep a night. Won’t get that tonight as my DC will be up at 6.

TillyTheTiger · 16/06/2019 04:20

Toddler woke me up, he's gone straight back to sleep but I'm 24 weeks pregnant and baby is kicking and I can't get comfortable. Plus the bastard birds outside are tweeting their little heads off!
Flowers to all those awake for sad or illness reasons

2beautifulbabs · 16/06/2019 04:22

My 15 week old has caught a cold off my 2.2yr old DS 🥺 so me and DH have been doing shifts to stay awake with DD as she can't lay down without waking and crying cause of her stuffy nose I hate colds

CanYouHelpFindThis · 16/06/2019 04:24

Partner just snoozing And think 🤞 MIL is starting to settle down too

Birds singing here and Sun is up ☀️

needasleep · 16/06/2019 04:28

I fell down 3 stairs tonight and broke my ankle and leg. Just been moved onto a ward and I am wide awake. I hope the pain killers kick in soon and make me sleep

CanYouHelpFindThis · 16/06/2019 04:30

needasleep Hope your recovery is a quick one!

burblife · 16/06/2019 04:30

Sucking snot from 4 week olds nose as she caught a cold from big sister.

Said big sister and DH also awake as she has become very clingy at night since new baby arrived.

needasleep · 16/06/2019 04:33

Thank you. Operation later today or tomorrow and a few days in hospital I am told but will be in a cast for a few weeks.

tinyradish · 16/06/2019 04:43

Oh gosh, that is a nightmare! Hope you & newborn escape the bug.

I'm awake after just feeding my 6 week old who has now decided to be wide awake, kicking away in his crib. Also starving & considering grabbing a snack from the kitchen...

999caffeineplease · 16/06/2019 04:44

My DGM passed away a few hours ago, I haven’t been to sleep yet

999caffeineplease · 16/06/2019 04:46

Sucking snot is one of my favourite disgusting jobs. Obviously it’s rubbish that the one having the snot sucked is ill but there’s something really satisfying about the activity.

littlemissmoomoo · 16/06/2019 05:08

@999caffeineplease I'm so sorry to hear your grandma has passed.

@needasleep ouch! Wishing you a speedy recovery

So it looks like its definitely a bug. 7 year old has puked twice more, 2 year old 3 times. Praying the rest of us dont get it. Roll on 7am when DH's carer comes to get him out of bed so he can at least hold baby whilst I'm dealing with puke.

19 month old been wide awake pre-5 every day this week. How come I got TWO early risers? Ugh. Probably because me and DH are morning people to be fair but come on 😩😩

clairethewitch70 · 16/06/2019 05:41

Not been to bed. No chance of sleep. Mixture of chronic pain and bad news after bad news - it just keeps coming. Lost my complete support network today, through no fault of my own, because of my health even though I had missed no sessions at all.

UncomfortableSilence · 16/06/2019 05:56

Been awake since 2, trapped nerve and DHs bloody snoring are the cause tonight but to be fair I don't sleep well most nights anymore Sad

caringiscreepy · 16/06/2019 06:07

Few weeks after brain surgery. On a load of steroids and 12am- 5am seems to be my limit every night. Could be worse I suppose, catching up on Killing Eve

Stroller15 · 16/06/2019 16:15

Hope your day improved OP??

CanYouHelpFindThis · 16/06/2019 16:28
