Sterilised milk makes the best rice pudding

And for those with the old Be-Ro recipe book, there's a recipe in it for chocolate cake made with evap milk which is delicious

This is my go to chocolate cake recipe! In fact most of my baking is done using the Bero book and I buy the book for people as presents (although the newer editions have an increasing number of new recipes while they gradually drop the older ones).

I now keep tins of evaporated and condensed milk in the cupboard for baking.

How much was single cream?!

Evap milk with tinned fruit was a big treat on a Sunday teatime here.
Was going to mention tip top but someone beat me to it.
Now, Fussells sterilised cream- that's just mmmmmm.

Tinned pears in chocolate instant whip was one of my favourites, even better if you put a layer of chocolate sponge underneath.
Then serve with condensed milk.

Aged 14 my entire school year went to a freezing cold youth hostel for 10 days of character building outdoor education. The youth hostel shop sold tube of condensed milk, presumably for fit hikers to use in their mountain to coffee. We bought a tube each and squeezed the entire thing into our mouths in one go. And then we did the same every evening till we felt sick. Happy days!
