Surely he can’t be that bad??? Everyone seems to think he’s a complete tosser (me included), so how is he so popular? Does anyone know the truth?

Tory MPs probably know exactly what he’s like but think he is popular with the public so could get them re-elected at the next GE. All totally self-serving.

Randomly they know what he's like and they don't care, because there are people out there who think he's a bit of a laugh and will vote for him. Party before country, in all things.

I can't bear the idea of him being pm I really can't

That’s a dangerous combination in a prime minister, where he could say something off the top of his head that is actually very controversial/offensive. I can imagine him tweeting something stupid and starting a small war by accident.

Scratch out Prime Minister and put President, and you've got Trump. Heaven help us all.

His hair’s natural. Other people in his family have the same very blond hair.

No, but I know someone who had an affair with him a while back. Unfortunately, I don’t know her well enough to grab her by the shoulders and say ‘Seriously???’

I think the Conservative Party know they are unlikely to win the next election (even against Jeremy Corben who doesn't seem to have universal appeal) so they are clutching at their only hope of winning the popular vote. The thought of Boris being pm is quite scary. I don't feel his colleagues believe he is best suited for the job - just their only chance of staying on power.

I met him in the Café de Paris years ago...arrogant and lecherous.
Not that that would surprise anyone!

I had a client who knew him (so not first hand - sorry) - very much old boys network obviously, as expected, but also that he is rude to those 'beneath' him - drivers was the example they used I think. I just have a feeling it will be him, this country keeps getting worseSad

Judge a man by his friends? Well he is pals with Trump and Farage - day no more. (But he is known for being ‘friends’ with anybody who can get him where he wants to be. His current girlfriend is mastermind ding his re-vamp - hair, speeches and most importantly when to shut up.
She will last til she has served her purpose.
Seriously - how could anybody support this Serial philanderer, liar and contemptible snob - says so much about the Tory party values!

This sort of thread is far more persuasive for me than a political debate. Real democracy in action.

A friend of mine had a meeting with him - he was all 'bumbling idiot' in public, tripped up some steps going in etc
However once in the room he was 'shark eyes' and a mind like a steel trap - definitely not the persona he portrays

I am not a fan of Boris, and neither are a lot of the people he would be working with - especially the EU! There is no way they will budge an inch for Boris when they don't like him, a few years back they described the prospect of Boris as the PM as a 'horror scenario'.

He worked in Brussels so he is known to them.

Surely you can tell what he's like from his words and actions? A cold hearted Tory who puts on a little bumbling show in public to win our sympathies. He's like those dinosaurs in Jurassic Park that make cute noises and smile coyly before spitting poison in your face.

You’re not going to get any positives posts about Boris because this site is unfortunately, predominantly left wing!

Max Hastings doesn’t sit on the fence does he? And he’s a dyed in the wool conservative. Boris spells danger.

I haven’t worked with him but he has been sacked twice for lying and his own daughter was overheard calling him a selfish bastard.

Would you want him as your direct boss? Let alone PM?

Report
Fleetheart · 14/06/2019 10:08

I think he’s be one of those bosses who took all your work, put a bit of different branding on it and passed it off as his own!

Surely, Soola being right wing doesn't necessarily involve people being so blindly partisan that they say any candidate is the dream ticket?

One would hope that right wingers would retain some sense of discernment, considering there are other candidates. What would be wrong in saying 'Boris isn't suitable, but Rory Stewart is clever and thoughtful, with good relevant past experience'?

He visited my DD's university when he was minister for HE and she asked him a sensible question about accessibility to which he clearly had nothing useful to say so he blustered and tried to make her look silly. How his face fell when he encountered her after the event in her wheelchair.
She said he was one of the most obnoxious people she's ever met.

Fleetheart · 14/06/2019 10:18

@borntobequiet, that is awful,!good for your daughter in asking the question, and how disgraceful of him to brazen it off by making her look silly

It is frightening that he could will be PM. The affable buffoon thing that people fall for isn't the reality from everything you read and hear about him. What's interesting is that he appears to be made of teflon, much like Trump. Racism, drug taking, being a general twat all seem to be ignored whilst Michael Gove has been hung out to dry for taking cocaine.

I was really hoping someone sensible like Rory Stewart would get more votes, he does at least have diplomatic skills, appears to actually be honest, and a much more decent human being.

I cant vote Labour because of Corbyn, I cant vote Conservative (especially because of Boris) and I cant vote Lib Dem or Greens because of their lack of support for women only spaces and the Amy Challenor issue. There truly is no political home for me.

I don't get the 'this site is left-wing' comment at all. I may be left wing but still think there are many Labour MPs who'd be a catastrophic disaster if they were to become PM (including Corbyn). Does being right-wing mean you accept any crazed nutter as your pm just because he happens to belong to the same party as you?! Sadly I fear the answer is probably yes, which tells you all you need to know really.
