Normally I make homemade shepherds pie, roast chicken etc for everyone but tonight we had go old bacon and sausage rolls...just normal old Richmond thick sausages on a roll with tomato sauce and it was amazing!!

What's everyone's simple tea that are just better than anything else?

Brew Sad

Southerners assuming it’s all about them and their ways as per usual

Northeners also drink tea don't they?

I thought it was going to be about tea bags or loose leaf, regardless of area and was going to say Yorkshire Gold until I read the OP.

cheeseandcrackers · 13/06/2019 20:27

Pancakes if it's late & kids are tired. Yum and nobody makes a fuss.

Northerners drink brews. It's teatime, I had beans on toast.

MyGastIsFlabbered · 13/06/2019 20:36

My shopping has only just been delivered and I can to cook properly so it's satay kievs and oven chips! Not sure if it counts as the 'BEST' though but I'm so hungry I'd think cardboard was the best tea

donquixotedelamancha · 13/06/2019 20:44

Dinner, it's DINNER.

OP clearly states 'tonight'. She is talking about her evening meal, not dinner (although I like a bacon and sausage butty for a lazy Sunday dinfast).

BumandChips · 13/06/2019 20:45

Another one thinking this was about tea bags. Disappointed.

Otterseatpuffinsdontthey · 13/06/2019 20:46

Proper, home-made chips, good quality corned beef, fresh tomato. Salt, pepper and salad cream.
Slice, or two, of buttered plain, white bread.
Large mug of tea.

Baloonphobia · 13/06/2019 20:49

Barry's. Dh prefers Lyons. Heathen.

Stravapalava · 13/06/2019 21:41

Best drinking tea - Yorkshire.

Best eating tea - thick hot buttered doorsteps of toast. Proper butter, loads of it. And a massive mug of aforementioned Yorkshire tea.

mamasma · 13/06/2019 21:43

I'm from Scotland if that's any help with the whole tea/dinner 🤷‍♀️

PineappleSeahorse · 13/06/2019 21:52

I'm from Scotland too and it's dinner in my area so I assumed that the thread was about the drink.

PineappleSeahorse · 13/06/2019 21:55

"OP clearly states 'tonight'. She is talking about her evening meal, not dinner"

Dinner is the evening meal to me.

I pity foreigners when they come to live in the UK. They must be so confused with the different terms we use for meals.

MyGastIsFlabbered · 13/06/2019 21:56

*OP clearly states tonight
*
Not on the thread title she doesn't

QuestionableMouse · 13/06/2019 21:59

Tea where I come from.

Dinner is the meal you have in the middle of the day.

My favourite tea has to be cheese, beetroot and either good fresh bread or cream crackers. I'll add coleslaw if I'm feeling fancy.

FrankT · 13/06/2019 22:00

Crunchy nut cornflakes. Or cheese on toast.

mamasma · 13/06/2019 22:13

I say tea,you say...no big deal 🤷‍♀️ I was just starting a chat because I'm a long time lurker and haven't posted before wanted to join in with everyone....

Pasta with pesto sauce, cream and fried mushrooms and bacon bits!
Peanut butter on toast
Cheese on toast
Sausage butties
Bacon and mushrooms on toast
Fish finger sandwich

Think that's all I ever cook for dinner these days to be honest.

StrumpersPlunkett · 13/06/2019 22:21

Comfort dinner/tea here is cooked breakfast.
Bacon sausages eggs mushrooms grilled tomatoes toast. And drink of strong Yorkshire tea. Hmmmmm. (Am on diet so now salivating at the thought)

PineappleSeahorse · 13/06/2019 22:23

I made pasta with chopped ham, asparagus(which I chopped and threw in with the pasta), butter, lots of pepper and grated cheese the other day when I couldn't be bothered making anything much.(It was surprisingly nice)

PineappleSeahorse · 13/06/2019 22:26

A packet of ramen with a fried egg on top.

IAmAlwaysLikeThis · 13/06/2019 22:29

God, the people who are being snippy and posting that it's dinner need to grow up and realise that people use different words for different things.

My favourite TEA is anything with chips and beans.

meow1989 · 13/06/2019 22:31

Earl grey with milk and a small sugarWink

Otherwise a good homemade macaroni cheese with tomatoes in!

Orchidflower1 · 13/06/2019 22:35

It’s breakfast, lunch and tea op- totally got what you were saying.

Crumpets and butter
Beans on toast
Something with crackers

Basically some carb based low fuss food!

heartshapedknob · 13/06/2019 22:35

Tea where I’m from too (Northern England) and to answer the question.... proper carved ham, fried egg and home made chips.
