What is your secret that you waste money on?

We must all have one thing that we secretly treat ourselves too... or waste money on.... for many women it seems to be shoes or a nice handbag etc.
Me? I waste my money on flight upgrades

What about you?

Makeup, skincare and journaling/planner stuff

GreigLaidlawsbarofsoap · 12/06/2019 20:53

@Youmadorwhat - I love your wallpaper 🐘

Coffee shop coffee n cake
Posh biscuits for cheese
Scarves
Bras - not a waste really as I do need them for my big boobs, but I maybe don't need as many as I have Blush
Raffle tickets - I'm a sucker for a charity raffle, buy tickets for anything but never ever bloody win 😂

Accountant222 · 12/06/2019 20:56

Makeup, cigarettes, I have a serious OKA habit

viviene · 12/06/2019 20:56

Shoes, clothes and bags. I always say 'I will send it back' and sometimes I really do.
Wine and good restaurants too.

RangerLady · 12/06/2019 20:57

Expensive shawls and scarves. I am always wearing one but I will never add up how much they all cost!

DubiousGoals · 12/06/2019 20:58

Lunch from M&S nearly every day I'm at work
Takeaway coffees
Lipsticks
Trainers
SNS nails twice a month
Fancy skincare

@CakeNinja Cult Beauty is most definitely my favourite online shop. I’ve had two orders this week from there so far Blush

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 12/06/2019 20:58

Perfume.

I don't really consider it a waste as it gives me enormous pleasure (and I've met some lovely people though my perfume habit) but absolutely no one on earth needs the amount I currently have.

EnidButton · 12/06/2019 21:00

Bethany Yes to The Sims! I haven't played for years but they gave away the Sims4 base game last month so I thought 'why not, it won't cost anything...' and now I'm eyeing up the EPs. There's a new one out this month.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 12/06/2019 21:00

Cigarettes. About 20 per month - but, still, £12.00!!

sm40 · 12/06/2019 21:02

Kindle daily deals.
I have way more books than I can read but if there is a book I want and it's 99p I need it!
Maybe costs me £2/£3 a week, and not harming anyone. Dh spends that a day on coffee!!
He rolls his eyes at the credit card bill when they show up on there!

Catypillar · 12/06/2019 21:04

Art and craft materials- goes through phases, at the moment it's jersey fabrics and everyone in the house is getting new tshirts (I have enough fabric to make us each a whole new wardrobe already and have two more packages on the way)

Garden stuff, sometimes it's plants, sometimes I end up spending loads on all the other bits and pieces you need. Nearly £100 on pots, compost, grass food, canes and greenhouse trays last garden centre trip. Doesn't help that DS2 who is 4 and has the concentration of a squirrel loves garden centres and will actually walk around them nicely while asking politely if I will buy him plants...

Hotel Chocolat goodies. There's no HC locally but if I go to Edinburgh or Glasgow I stock up. That's the only one that is a secret- not because of the spending but because I hide them in a drawer in my study so DH and the kids don't eat them (they wouldn't appreciate them any more than they would appreciate Dairy Milk so they can stick to Dairy Milk)

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 12/06/2019 21:05

Why is it stereotyping? Seriously?

'Women like shoes and handbags'
'Asian people are good at maths'
'Old people are busybodies'

You can see what is wrong with the last two statements, right? Then you can see what's wrong with the first one.

Fooferella · 12/06/2019 21:07

Another kindle addict. I spend mine on trashy soft porn type romances (50 shades is a pulitzer winner in comparison to some of them) . I probably drop a fiver a day on these. They are mostly full of misogynist shite but I find them relaxing.

mamaofboyzz · 12/06/2019 21:07

Coffee shop coffee, scratch cards and lottery tickets! It needs to stop 😩

paddington34 · 12/06/2019 21:09

Charliechicken · 12/06/2019 21:11

Test name change

BertieBotts · 12/06/2019 21:12

I don't think a single person has even said they do spend on shoes or handbags TBF :o

MerryDeath · 12/06/2019 21:13

@DonkeyHohtay same!! my stash is by far the most valuable thing i own.. DH has no idea Blush

LBOCS2 · 12/06/2019 21:13

Oh @Fooferella me too - I've got a couple of series that I'm absolutely hooked on and they're SO TRASHY still better than fifty shades, mind.

Actually, reading this thread I have discovered why I feel so skint all the time. It's because I fritter my money away on shite I don't need - nail varnishes, candles, perfumes, coffee, eating out, ALL OF THE THINGS from the garden centre... and of course, kindle books.

butterflykiss00 · 12/06/2019 21:14

I actually buy and enjoy doing pregnancy tests even though I'm not ttc, maybe it's an addiction or maybe deep down I'm scared to get pregnant again I don't know.
Was going to name change but bugger it haha

Charliechicken · 12/06/2019 21:15

I spend money on flying first or business each flight.
People at work have no idea I have money so when I buy lots of stuff for school I lie and say a friend or family member donated it. Have probably spent £1000 on the school I work in this school year and I love the fact no one knows.
I also bought new windows for the local scout hut with only the treasurer knowing the cheque was from me.
It is a total joy👍👍
