We must all have one thing that we secretly treat ourselves too... or waste money on.... for many women it seems to be shoes or a nice handbag etc.
Me? I waste my money on flight upgrades

What about you?

What is your secret that you waste money on?
LaDameAuxLicornes · 12/06/2019 19:55

First class train tickets and second hand clothes and books.

golddustwomen · 12/06/2019 19:55

So that's the nicest bathroom I've ever seen!
Just eat and eyelashes!!

ohhdearyme · 12/06/2019 19:56

Make up
And make up removers/primers/moisturiser

Nonatron · 12/06/2019 19:57

I just need to buy less takaways. For my waistline as well as my wallet!

Freshprincess · 12/06/2019 19:58

The lottery. I bought a ticket a few months ago on a whim and won a free go for the next draw. Never played before in all the years it’s been going, but it hooked me. I don’t buy tickets every week, but if I walk past the kiosk and it catches my eye I have to have a go. Haven’t won a penny since!

Fresh flowers
I also quite like premixed cocktails. I justify it to myself that it’s cheaper than buying all the ingredients separately but I know I’m kidding myself.

Lovelydovey · 12/06/2019 19:58

Perfume and chocolate

Natasha4767 · 12/06/2019 19:59

Coffee shop coffee, I buy one everyday, designer bags but I get them as presents from my other half. I used to buy loads of makeup but that's calmed down recently x

riotlady · 12/06/2019 19:59

Lush bath bombs! I used to painstakingly break them up into pieces so each one would last several baths, but my partner insists that I treat myself and extravagantly use a whole one in a bath every couple of weeks.

CakeNinja · 12/06/2019 19:59

None of it is a secret although not anything I particularly would bore anyone else about.
Dp could check our joint account if he cared although most of it comes out of my personal account.
Food - eating at home and eating out. Also sometimes have lunch out when I’m at work if I’ve been too lazy to make anything.
Gym and PT - family gym membership plus my weekly PT sessions are our third highest monthly expense but I see it as an investment in my future health!!
Skincare - regular deliveries from space nk, Charlotte tilbury, cult beauty type places of serums, oils, exfoliators, moisturisers, masks, acids etc. Too much to use at once but I like having a selection Blush
Dresses - I try not to buy too much in the way of clothes but every now and again a couple of dresses work their way into my online shopping basket.

Handbags - again, not a secret, in fact, why does anything need to be a secret?!

Freshprincess · 12/06/2019 20:00

I also used to have a wicker basket addiction but I realised that I was buying stuff to put in my baskets and it was all a bit out of hand.

motortroll · 12/06/2019 20:00

Cigarettes. Restarted. Bad bad bad.....and so expensive!!

OhioOhioOhio · 12/06/2019 20:00

Tumble dryer

Pick n mix! There's a great corner shop by us which does a really cheap pick n mix. My little boy and I go there for a treat on a Monday night, every Monday. We're on a tight budget but it means we have something to look forward to all week and we love going and get on really well with the owners so have a chat to them, its just nice and a bit of a tradition now. I put aside £5 a week and we get a big bag of sweets and watch a dvd together in our pjs after dinner Grin

anitagreen · 12/06/2019 20:05

@Otterses there's a box of weird fruit and veg you can grown on Amazon, you can grow purple carrots or square tomatoes I reckon your DH would find that funny Grin

haverhill · 12/06/2019 20:07

Mascara. I have loads because I can’t find one that suits.

Longdistance · 12/06/2019 20:07

I get gel (shellac) nails done every two weeks. I wear Lancôme and Clinique make up.

73kittycat73 · 12/06/2019 20:08

Food shopping. I do it online (As am agoraphobic.). I think it's a control thing. (Nobody else, though I do get the things my mum has asked for.) I like searching through all the aisles and finding something new. I like the thought that my cupboards will be nice and full.
Not so secret as one other knows about it, but I've recently been on a trip down memory lane and bought myself a second hand PS2. I've been buying second hand games to play on it too. Have about six or seven atm.
Love the PP confession about Fate and Fortune magazine. I used to love reading Texas the Psychic Horses' page. Was very tempted to write in myself once! Grin (Didn't do it in the end though.)

Lauzy86 · 12/06/2019 20:08

Like everyone else, not a secret from DH but I do love Emma Bridgewater mugs, I have about 20. He only discovered their price when he very kindly bought me a tea pot and milk jug for Xmas...
Tea and cake with friends, I'm on mat leave so totally justifiable! (No excuse for the previous 20+years!)

PregnantOnPurpose · 12/06/2019 20:09

I constantly out money in on onstant win games on the national lottery. I'm well and truly addicted to it.

It's got to the point in hiding my phone from OH face while I'm playing, and lying about if and when I do llag and it and how much about it.

I feel like I'm on a downward spiral. Also too niave to think I can become massively addicted and in debt to gambling so i probably wont stop.

It's the one thing that brings me joy for a moment even though I'm incredibly poor to begin with.

How come a Monday?

BertieBotts · 12/06/2019 20:14

EBooks "by Foster carers" they are so cringe with awful titles like "No daddy no!" and dreary grey and white images of crying children but they aren't quite the misery memoir with constant descriptions of awfulness. Instead they read more like a detective novel with what's happened to the child being revealed bit by bit, written in this cheesy take a break style (they are always tucking into roast dinners with all the trimmings etc) there is always a miraculous turn around in the child's behaviour which is pleasing to read about, but mostly I find them very soothing in the way they simply describe normal everyday life and the Foster carer cleaning their house, making dinner, doing the school run and emphasising acceptable behaviour. It sounds boring and I suppose they are boring, predictable and formulaic but I find them so incredibly comforting I have to buy them every time I see a new one Blush

ChewbaccaHutchinsCool · 12/06/2019 20:20

Decent coffee. I have a filter coffee maker at home and I use nice coffee for it. I like locally roasted ones but one of my favourites is from Pilgrim's Cafe on the Holy Island.
