Best Fictional President?

With Trump visiting I was thinking how much greater it would be if Tom Kirkland from Designated Survivor was actually the president. Who would get your vote?

Mellie Grant was a brilliant president, (Scandal)

CaptainJaneway62 · 03/06/2019 22:59

President Jed Bartlett every time!

KatsutheClockworkOctopus · 03/06/2019 23:00

Yy to Bartlett and Pullman

Always liked Morgan Freeman in Deep Impact too. If there were an asteroid hurtling toward the Earth, he is definitely the one I'd like to hear it from.

Hannam82 · 03/06/2019 23:05

David from Love actually (Hugh Grant) was the best ever British President 😍 I would vote for him

Tom Kirkman is good ...

If all fails ... Vote for Gandalf 🤗

Eistigi · 03/06/2019 23:07

I was coming on to say President Bartlet, but looks like it's everyone else is of the same mind.
It's the fact he's human and Presidential that I think makes him the best.
My favourite episode, which I laugh even thinking about, is when CJ has to go to the dentist and Josh takes over as press sec, and invents the Secret Plan to fight Inflation!

Binglebong · 03/06/2019 23:48

Bartlett, obviously. But Dave was great too. And I'm liking the guy from Pixels at the moment!

Binglebong · 03/06/2019 23:51

Ah, that secret plan!Grin

TheWaiting · 04/06/2019 00:01

Grin ‘I’ve had root canal!’
‘You’ve has what?’
‘I’ve had root canal!’
‘I know. I heard you the first time. I just thought it was funny.’ Grin Grin Grin

Binglebong · 04/06/2019 00:18

😁😁😁

Have to put in another vote for Jack Ryan. Although he did gave the advantage of all senators/congressmen being killed by a suicide bomber.

Yubaba · 04/06/2019 00:21

Jeb Bartlett should just be president forever.
He ooozes statesmanship, and you can tell he just loves Josh and CJ.

OneInAMillionYou · 04/06/2019 01:47

Another vote for Bartlett for America.

Like many PPs I watch The West Wing virtually on a loop every year. Best tv show ever, if only real life could be like this.

President Santos - second choice

Or imagine.... Leo McGarry... sob

Even Arnold Vinick would be preferable to that clown currently in office.

I also loved Michael Douglas in The American President, the forerunner to The West Wing. I think Aaron Sorkin tried out some of his WW scenarios in that movie.

So, 80% or so have posters have voted for Jed, that makes it law, yes?

frankie001 · 04/06/2019 01:54

It does seem like Jed is now officially POTUS!

I'm a Kirkman fan.

dreygrey · 04/06/2019 02:10

Florentyna Kane

Bravelurker · 04/06/2019 02:55

The president in 2012, was cool but short lived.

DoorbellsSleighbellsSchnitzel · 04/06/2019 03:49

Jed Bartlett, unquestionably!

noseoftralee · 04/06/2019 05:12

President Bartlet, no contest.
Think of the fun Style and Beauty would have scrutinising Abby’s style

Toooldtobearsed2 · 04/06/2019 05:19

Lol, watching it right now! The West Wing, that is.
Bartlett is the best person ever, never mind President! I must admit to being gobsmacked that people exist who have not watched the West Wing 🤔

And after that, watch The Newsroom!

TowerRingInferno · 04/06/2019 07:23

Bartlett, no contest.

frankie001 · 04/06/2019 07:56

@senecafalls another vote for Kirkman!!

OP posts:
Eistigi · 04/06/2019 08:16

And after that, watch The Newsroom

Definitely! Such a pity it was cancelled, just think what fun it could have these days 😆

CoraPirbright · 04/06/2019 08:58

President Whitmore from Independence Day!! (Love Bill Pullman).

Who’s hoping for Theresa to do a Love Actually/Hugh Grant style take-down of Trump today? She has literally nothing to lose and could really go out in style, telling him that he is a massive jerk about climate change!!

SenecaFalls · 04/06/2019 12:41

I do like the West Wing, but I like a bit of humility in my presidents; that's why I prefer Kirkman. Bartlet does always seem rather impressed with himself, bless him.

New season of Designated Survivor will be released on Netflix this Friday.

frankie001 · 04/06/2019 13:28

Yay for new series of DS. I should have just finished season 2.

CornishMaid1 · 04/06/2019 13:51

Bill Pullman in Independence Day.

I only watched the first series of Designated Survivor, but I did like Tom Kirkman as president as he just wanted to do what was for the best, unlike the way most politicians seem.
