Does anyone else sing made up songs to their dog? (Or any pet for that matter)

I will do this often. I will make a fuss of my dog and sing him a little song, usually with his name in but not always. I did it with the dog we had before him and used to do it to my cats as well.

I don't know if anyone else does is, but then Ive never admitted it publicly either. Ive often thought that if there were secret camera recording me in my home people would think I was bonkers..

abitoflight · 02/06/2019 01:51

God knows why but I sing Jar or Hearts by Christina Perry to my DDog

Kleptronic · 02/06/2019 02:02

Yep I too sing made up songs with nonsense words to one of my dogs (the other is more intelligent so gets a monologue on how great he is).

HappyEverIftar · 02/06/2019 05:50

As an avid fan watcher of RuPaul's Drag Race, I've adapted the closing song of this show to include my Kittie's names:

"Hey kitty girl,
It's your world,
When you walk the street, stepping to the beat"

And for my boy cat:

"Hey kitty Merl,
It's your world..."

Also sing the big and chunky theme song from Madagascar to my girl cat as I wiggle her about Blush

Swissgemma · 02/06/2019 06:00

To the tune of private dancer.

'Tiny tiger, a tiger for dreamies', although I think I pinched that from someone on here.

longwayoff · 02/06/2019 06:46

Ah. Thought it was just me. Hello pet song community. My dog🐕 loves a song but hates buskers, they're too jangly for him, prefers something softer.

Toddlerteaplease · 02/06/2019 07:44

Cheddar gets Smelly cat sing to her, because her poo is horrific!

DuchessDarty · 02/06/2019 08:00

11 week old puppy here going through the bitey stage.
To the tune of 'I'm Too Sexy':

I'm too bitey for my mummy
Too bitey for my mummy
Too bitey for my mummy
Mummy's never gonna leave me

I'm too bitey for my dad
Too bitey for my dad
So bitey it hurts

'Cause I'm a puppy, you know what I mean
And I do my little turn on the dog walk
Yeah, on the dog walk
On the dog walk, yeah
I shake my little tush on the dog walk

I'm too wriggly for my car
Too wriggly for my car
Too wriggly by far

I'm too scary for [friend name's] cat
Too scary for [friend name's] cat
Poor pussy
Poor pussy cat

We had a whole album of songs called Noms Aid for our Labradoodle.

Foreigner's 'I've been waiting for a Nom like you' was a popular choice closely followed by Kirsty MacColl's 'Thank you for the Noms'

We don't sing them anymore since we lost our Fluppy.

Mmmmdanone · 02/06/2019 10:07

I sing known songs and replace a word with ddogs name! Silly, and have been caught doing so by the next door neighbours!

Mmmmdanone · 02/06/2019 10:09

Just relax Copacabana features highly in this thread- that's one of mine too 😂

BearSoFair · 02/06/2019 10:13

DS1's girlfriend sings 'toe beans, toe beans, toe beans, toe beeeaaaans' to the tune of 'Jolene' whenever one of our cats sleeps with a paw poking out. It's caught on and now we all do it!

WatcherOfTheNight · 02/06/2019 10:16

Yes ,but I know I lost the plot years ago !Wink

Made up songs but also a few well known songs ,"your so vain " to the cat & the puppy

The 2 male pigs who are always up to no good ,Bohemian Rhapsody "Mama ....ooooo oooo oo ,we didn't mean to make you cry ,I bet you wish ,you'd never given us a home "

My lovely, adoring Lab gets serenaded ,"your gorgeous,Id do anything for you ! "

PutyourtoponTrevor · 02/06/2019 10:33

I sing This Little Piggy to mine, using her back toes, and on the wee wee wee bit I tickle up her leg, belly and chin. I substitute piggy with her name

BenWillbondsPants · 02/06/2019 10:35

Yes! Always made up ones.

Normally along the lines of 'you're a twat but I love you' or similar.

UnicornPug · 02/06/2019 10:43

All the time. I am going to steal the dedicated follower one- my pup is always trying to lick the cat!

To the spongebob squarepants theme:
Who is the best puppy in all of the land

He’s fluffy and woofy and ever so grand

He licks and he sniffs and he loves me the best

He’s also an awful and terrible pest!

I also sing:
Puppy puppy puppy,
I bite you on the nose
You are my favourite puppy
But why, no one knows
I love you in the morning
I love you in the night
I love you when you cuddle
But not when you bite.

The only song he’s ever HATED is the one we sang him as we drove him home from the breeder. I think it was the car he disliked, but he’s clearly got the song as a bad memory because if I sing it he cries and leaves the room. It was a song from a musical that had his name in it.

BestIsWest · 02/06/2019 11:12

We sing

Wave your paws in the air like you don’t care,
Glide past the doggies as they start to look and stare,
do your dance etc

At ours - if they see treats they hold their paws up to say please.
