The most amazing place you've ever visited

Our holiday destinations have been quite safe and samey up to now usually AI and now DD is a bit older we'd like to branch out a bit.

Have you ever visited anywhere that was amazing and that you tell everyone about? I don't mind whether its little known, off the beaten track, hugely touristy or whatever, but I'm just looking for something with a wow factor.

Ullapool in scotland was stunningly beautiful. we went to the summer islands from there on a ferry (only accessible in summer- hence the name!) and saw porpoises and dolphins. gorgeous place.

Lochroy · 28/05/2019 17:35

Patagonia. Just amazing.

KenAdams · 28/05/2019 18:22

Thanks both. Had a Google and they both look lovely - I'll pop them on the list.

brittanyfairies my husband booked our trip and told me not to look at any photos online. So glad he did. I cant ever forget how I felt when I first saw Abu Simbal, it will stay with me forever, the most breath taking, awe inspiring place ever.

Norway. We stayed in Oslo for a short break and had a fantastic time. Fabulous weather - think swimming from the beaches, great stuff to see and do, excellent fish for BBQs.

borninastorm · 28/05/2019 19:31

Finnish Lapland in February was stunning. We had the most amazing frozen adventure that included ski-dooing across a frozen lake to the Russian border at midnight, husky dog sledding, telling travel tales in a teepee at night and it all ended with a trek to the Arctic Circle.
Iceland in December was incredible. We actually saw the northern lights.
Iceland is just spectacular.
Both of these places took my breath away every day. And the adventures we had there were out of this world.

Oh you mustttt go to lake como in Italy!! It is me and my partners most favourite place ever. The people there are so so lovely and there are some amazing places for food at such reasonable prices. There are many air bnbs here, we had one with a rooftop hot tub and bbq area over looking the lake😍. The colourful town circles the lake so it's so beautiful during the day. But even at night the lights reflecting the lake etc.. are breath taking.
Bikes to get around.. I've been to the Caribbean a multiple times, but this place wins 100%.

SisyphusDad · 28/05/2019 19:42

The Galapagos islands, on a small (16 berth) boat. Everything about the trip was incredible.

JellyTeapot · 28/05/2019 19:44

Samarkand in Uzbekistan, the mosques are stunning. Would love to see more of the Silk Road!

Pinkarsedfly · 28/05/2019 19:53

Punta Mita in Mexico. Stunning is an overused word, but it’s the only word for that place.

Also Teotihuacan near Mexico City. Pyramids, and just an amazing sense of peace. There’s also a 2000 year old city there, which is like Pompeii without the crowds.

Etrusca · 28/05/2019 19:59

Santorini. Loved everything about it, especially the day trip to the volcano.

On safari Sabi Sands in Kruger National Park South Africa. Would love to visit other places in Africa now like Botswana. Going on safari is one of the most amazing things you can do.
Also loved Santorini in Greece would recommend you stayed in an area called Oia. A lot of people often tell me they were disappointed in Santorini esp if they went for a day on the cruise ship. Oia is where you really see all the beautiful blue and white. It does get busy during the day but we stayed in our hotel by the pool. After sunset/early morning the crowds were gone and we just loved walking around. The sunsets by the way are spectacular we watched them every night with a
