Would you find this annoying?

My son and I play football in our back garden. We use a soft ball, not a proper football. Occasionally (maybe 5 or 6 times a week) the ball will go over the fence into our neighbour's garden. We don't go knocking to ask for the ball back, just wait to see if they throw it back over. If you were my neighbour would you find this situation annoying?

yes

Villanellesproudmum · 28/05/2019 08:23

Only if it was damaging my plants, or hitting the animals, I’d just throw it back over.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 28/05/2019 08:23

Yes, that’s not occasionally, that’s almost daily.

Twickerhun · 28/05/2019 08:24

Yes. A couple of times a year is fine. Once a month would be just about too often probably. More is definitely too much

BiteyShark · 28/05/2019 08:25

5-6 times a week! Yes that would be annoying.

Sometimes my dog manages to bounce his ball over the fence rather than catching it and I am very apologetic and that's only occasionally. I would be mortified if that happened several times a month let alone a week.

SuperCraft · 28/05/2019 08:25

Yes. Once or twice a month not so much but 5 or 6 times a week says to me you're not being careful at all. I don't mind throwing balls back over, it takes 2 seconds but that frequency would annoy me.

Theworldcouldbemymollusc · 28/05/2019 08:25

Yes. I would be very irritated.

MaidenMotherCrone · 28/05/2019 08:26

Yes but you wouldn't get your ball/balls back as my dogs would have killed it/them.

If they became ill as a result you'd get the vet bill too.

Go to your local park until either his or your skills with a ball improve.

LorelaiRoryEmily · 28/05/2019 08:26

Wouldn’t bother me at all

lboogy · 28/05/2019 08:27

Yes it would. Why don't you go to the park?

OhMsBeliever · 28/05/2019 08:28

I wouldn't care but you'd probably be waiting forever for me to find them in my jungle of a garden that I rarely use.

floraloctopus · 28/05/2019 08:30

Yes. If it hit and injured any pet furries you'd be billed for that too.

Soola · 28/05/2019 08:30

After the third time in a week you would not get your ball back and I would let you know that if any other balls come over you won’t be getting them back either and I would tell you to go over the local park if you wanted to play with a ball.

PaintingOwls · 28/05/2019 08:31

Yes! Confused how on earth would you think otherwise?

Get a higher fence or go to the park.

HeddaGarbled · 28/05/2019 08:35

That’s most days then. I would find it mildly annoying. I might even go so far as to tut when I chucked it back over the fence.

SpinachnRicotta · 28/05/2019 08:35

This happens to me and I don't mind it at all. I chuck it back. I've said a couple of times to the kid next door that he's welcome to come into the back garden and grab it if we're not around, but I think his mum is very polite and doesn't want him to intrude.

PivotPivotPivottt · 28/05/2019 08:35

No it wouldn't bother me as you're not asking for it back. It would annoy me if I was getting knocks at the door all the time asking for it but as you're not doing this then no it wouldn't bother me at all.

Finfintytint · 28/05/2019 08:35

Those of you who would bill the op for vets fees should a pet be injured, how do you go about that exactly? My vet wants payment at the time of treatment so unless the neighbour accompanies you to the vet how does that work?

grumpyyetgorgeous · 28/05/2019 08:36

5 or 6 times a week is pretty much every day, that doesn't count as "occasionally" it wouldn't annoy me hugely but since I'm busy and don't go out in my garden that much you'd probably wait several days for your ball.

StoatofDisarray · 28/05/2019 08:38

As PPs have said, yes, it's very annoying.

floraloctopus · 28/05/2019 08:40

Letter asking them to pay and then small claims court I guess.

Whatevermission · 28/05/2019 08:40

No, I wouldn't mind

KatsutheClockworkOctopus · 28/05/2019 08:42

It's mildly irritating maybe (at most).

Luaa · 28/05/2019 08:45

Yes.

If my children sent a ball into a neighbour's garden twice in one week I'd tell them they weren't allowed to play with balls in the garden anymore.

Notcoolmum · 28/05/2019 08:48

It wouldn't bother me at all. Takes no effort to throw it over. My son has lost so many balls as our neighbours refuse to throw them over.
