What’s your dinner party nightmare?

Do you have a dish you dread being served? That you would really struggle to force down out of politeness? (Not stuff that you are allergic to or don’t eat for dietary reasons.)
For me goats cheese and lamb. I’m not a fussy eater but both make me reach.

Any seafood. I am not sure I could force it down TBH.

QuestionableMouse · 26/05/2019 20:32

Going to one.

My idea of hell.

Xiaoxiong · 26/05/2019 20:47

There aren't any foods I can think of that I don't like, but I find very well-done meat basically inedible. The extended chewing needed would really put me off!

Also I hate a dinner party with no background music to cover any unexpected awkward silences, or conversely background music that is too loud or distracting. It's a fine balance!

Love all food except pate!

Langrish · 26/05/2019 20:53

Over cooked beef/lamb. Piles of pasta. Creme brûlée.

Proseccoagain · 26/05/2019 20:54

Salad or any raw vegetables, especially onion. I would just throw up!

chuckyeggtimestwo · 26/05/2019 20:54

To be sat next to someone really tedious/boring. Il eat most things!

EssentialHummus · 26/05/2019 20:56

Sitting next to an open-mouth chewer. And seeing something in the host’s prep that made me question their hygiene.

TeenTimesTwo · 26/05/2019 20:57

avocado & coffee
I can manage most things if I really have to, but not those.

springtime12 · 26/05/2019 20:58

Anything milk based, like rice pudding, as I hate milk. Too much meat and not enough veg/salad. Couldn't touch oysters 🤢
I eat most things tho, and can get most things down, and in odd combinations.

ohbutyoulovescarves · 26/05/2019 21:01

Dessert that has mint or orange with chocolate. Cant stand chocolate orange or mint chocolate.

Also, cold quiche. Anything with cold eggs Envy

SureTry · 26/05/2019 21:06

Liver 🤢 was forced to eat it at school once.

rosydreams · 26/05/2019 21:07

fish or oysters

CigarsofthePharoahs · 26/05/2019 21:10

The only thing I just plain can't stomach is blue cheese. Everything else I can manage but not that. Makes me gag.
My nightmare would be a host proudly bringing out a cheeseboard at the end with a selection of mouldy offerings and insisting I try some.
I will eat pretty much everything else. Stilton? I'd rather eat my own feet.

Cornishmum00 · 26/05/2019 21:14

Any seafood

HumptyNumptyNooNoo · 26/05/2019 21:29

I don't like eating without background noise/music etc ... can't bear to hear people crunching and munching and slurping! Eewwww !!!

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 26/05/2019 21:31

Seafood.
Liver.
Anything that has a face.

Mum2jenny · 26/05/2019 21:31

I loathe goats cheese and milk puddings and will not eat either under any circumstances, not even to be polite

Sarahlou63 · 26/05/2019 21:32

Curry. Even the smell makes me nauseous.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 26/05/2019 21:33

Harissa spiced anythjng

PurpleDaisies · 26/05/2019 21:34

I’ve been vegetarian, now vegan.

Not everyone gets what that means...

Twickerhun · 26/05/2019 21:35

Bread and butter pudding - had it once after Sunday lunch and I gagged silently into a napkin

RoseMartha · 26/05/2019 21:36

Most meals, as I am intolerant to a lot of food. So would probably decline an invite in the first place.

wiltingflower · 26/05/2019 21:36

I think being stuck with someone(s) whose company you can't enjoy would be terrible luck! Also being dressed inappropriately, either under or overdressed 😱

And being poured alcoholic drink you don't like/ everyone is drinking and so you feel pressurised to drink the horrid thing 😭

BlueberryFool123 · 26/05/2019 21:36

Cheese or spicy food.

The worst is when you warn someone you don’t like spicy food and they serve something, “which isn’t spicy at all”. You then have to try eating it as the steam comes out your ears and mouth.
