Would you choose the same wedding dress again?

Especially if you went for a short dress, or a very simple one.

Yes I would.

ScreamingValenta · 24/05/2019 17:14

Yes. Mine wasn't at all fashionable - it had long sleeves - but it suited me.

HappyHammy · 24/05/2019 17:15

No. I'd want something different, I think it's a bit hurtful especially if they came across first wedding photos.

I'm desperate to find a dress with sleeves but the only options are lace sleeves.

If I was getting married now, then then no, I'd choose differently - but at the time it was right for me.
It had 3 quarter length sleeves, but I had it made for me - was much cheaper than off the peg.

EssentialHummus · 24/05/2019 17:18

Yes - short, simple and £25 from Asos. We had such a simple wedding and it was perfect.

Jaxhog · 24/05/2019 17:18

Probably. I hired mine - a cream victorian number with a high neck, long sleeves and a small train. Couldn't afford to buy one. Looks lovely in the (now faded) photos.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 24/05/2019 17:18

No. It would be proper weird getting married to someone new in the same dress

qj17 · 24/05/2019 17:20

Yes i definitely would!

Oh that wasn't quite what I meant Blush

I suppose I mean which styles or choices did people regret?

I'd definitely pick mine again, I loved it as soon as I saw it, I wouldn't have picked short or plain though, I can wear a short or plain white dress any day of the week but only get to wear a proper (for want of a better word) wedding dress once in a lifetime.

Regarding sleeves could you get a little bolero or shrug?

ineedaknittedhat · 24/05/2019 17:22

Mine had sleeves as well. The seamstress used the train to make sleeves as I didn't want a train or veil.

Mine was cream satin when a square neckline and a patterned bodice, but the skirt part was plain. I wore a gold coloured tiara.

ineedaknittedhat · 24/05/2019 17:24

It's my 16th wedding anniversary today actually 😁

That's what my mum is saying.

Absolutely.

I would not choose the same wedding though - would elope instead of the waste of money that was the Big Day nonsense we went for.

applesarerroundandshiny · 24/05/2019 17:26

I liked the dress I got married in - a proper frilly meringue Grin

However at 55 years old and approaching a size 16 I'd look pretty silly in it today!

applesarerroundandshiny · 24/05/2019 17:27

Meant to say I loved it! Smile

notso · 24/05/2019 17:31

No. I wouldn't have had a wedding dress at all, I didn't want one but was told I'd regret it. I regret not having what I wanted.
I feel the same about the whole wedding tbh. It was a fun day etc but in all honesty I just wanted to be married to the man I love, a ring and a few drinks. The rest just isn't important.

jackstini · 24/05/2019 17:36

@ineedaknittedhat - it's my 16th anniversary tomorrow!

I probably wouldn't pick the same if I was getting married now as styles are different
Also I felt rushed into buying last time and did not try on enough

jackstini · 24/05/2019 17:39

Long or short sleeves @IWantFlowersInMyHair ?

PeanuttyButter · 24/05/2019 17:44

I'd have gotten a smaller size. I was adamant I didn't want to lose weight for the wedding.. nor did I try. Come the wedding day it was too big 🙄

JohnWolfenstein · 24/05/2019 17:51

No I wouldn't. Mine was a very plain dress which was actually a bridesmaid dress and was v cheap. It looked lovely, but there was one I tried on in the shop and it made me cry, it was so gorgeous. Sadly it was way over budget and my head ruled my heart, but I really wish I had just put it on credit card and got it anyway. I regret it to this day.

ExpletiveDelighted · 24/05/2019 17:52

Yes, mine was long but straight, short lace sleeves and a round neck, ivory but more evening dress than wedding dress in style. No way on earth was I going to wear a full wedding dress or anything with a train, headdress or veil. No regrets at all.

Gobblebox · 24/05/2019 17:56

Yes, but mainly due to feeling more confident now I’m middle aged.
