How tight are your rings?

I had my engagement ring resized today; as it was absolutely huge. I'd had my fingers measured before in a high-street chain who didn't seem to pay much attention but confidently told me I was an O.

The lady today paid a lot more attention to the ring and my hand declared that I have 'in line knuckles', which apparently means I'm more at risk of losing a ring because my fingers don't get any thicker where my knuckles are, and then sized me again. She decided on L and a half.

It does fit, but it takes a few twists to get it off, and I'm worried that it feels quite tight. It's not at all uncomfortable but it's making my finger look quite chubby Blush

Should it be tight? I've never worn a ring before, and it was so massive before that I had a lot of plastic ring sizers wrapped round it, so it could just be that I need to get used to it!

Mine are fairly loose, as that's my preference.

My knuckles thicken my fingers however so no chance of them falling off.

I don't like rings that make fingers look like they've had the circulation cut off
Don't think they look nice, and I feel for the poor person wearing them as I don't understand how they can be comfortable.

theydontknowweknow · 23/05/2019 17:26

My fingers are probably like yours, they're a bit cone shaped ha! My ring is loose enough to still be comfortable but tight enough so that it doesn't just slip off. Mine was way too big before as well so it felt tiny when I had it resized, are you hands warmer/could they be slightly swollen?

fedup21 · 23/05/2019 17:30

There’s rather a difference between an o and an L.5!

I’m an H and my rings are fine-come off easily and don’t look too tight.

Not tight at all. I only wear one ring (wedding). Loose enough to wiggle up and down and doesn’t squidge my finger flesh at all. I’ve got long, thin, spider fingers.

chesterfuckingdraws · 23/05/2019 17:47

Not tight at all. I can remove my wedding and engagement ring together without twisting or tugging.

I hate anything tight so discounted the smaller size straight away and didn't like the squished look of it on my finger.

I can remove my rings after wearing them all
Day and not have any visible marks.

Would you still be able to remove the rings if your hands were hot?

FiremanKing · 23/05/2019 17:49

I hate tight rings. I feel panicky. It stems from getting my foot stuck in a riding boot when I was a child and several adults yanking me and the boot around to get it off, so I have an irrational fear of anything too tight to easily pull off such as boots or rings.

Get it resizes to an m or m and a half.

ilovesocks · 23/05/2019 17:50

Photo?

I wouldn't want very tight, mine aren't very tight but if I go for a run or something they're quite uncomfortable to get off. They need to still fit OK when you're reasonably warm. You can buy silicone coil things to go around the ring and make it tighter. I've got that for when I was ill and lost loads of weight. Can't really see it but good for peace of mind.

Nyctophilia · 23/05/2019 17:51

I thought this was going to be about anal sex, imagine my disappointment

emalymay · 23/05/2019 17:54

I'm going to assume mine is the only dirty mind on here lol but to reply to the actual question. I can't have mine too tight makes me anxious like if I get stuck somewhere. I'm odd lol x I went to a local jewlers to get mine measured x

NameChangeNugget · 23/05/2019 17:54

@Nyctophilia

guilty too Grin

To answer your question OP, not too tight but, not loose enough to easily drop off

OneRingToRuleThemAll · 23/05/2019 17:57

My fingers are quite puffy even though I'm only a size 12 so my rings leave a mark whatever size it is. DH bought a P and I had it re sized to Q and it still leaves a mark. I found it hard to buy dainty rings in such big sizes.

MardAsSnails · 23/05/2019 17:57

My mind was also in the gutter (the answer is not very - chronic upset stomach due to stress)

It’s quite possible that if you were measured at a high street place it was after a few hours shopping, and I know my hands often swell if I’m too warm or in a shopping mall for too many hours. It’s why I never trust buying shoes after the first 30 mins of shopping, unless I know the brand and don’t need to try on cos I know my size

Windygate · 23/05/2019 17:59

If the ring make your finger look chubby it's too tight.

DaisiesAndCompasses · 23/05/2019 18:07

I was worried about that being the case Blush

I suspect they wouldn't be too pleased to make it bigger again, they had a moan about it being difficult to resize anyway due to the setting.

DP thinks it's fine and it doesn't make my finger look fat but I'm not so sure!

I do have the type of skin that seems to indent. I have a permanent watch indent and my bracelets aren't tight at all and also indent, so it may well be the case that when it was big enough not to indent, it would be too big to stay on.

It's still pretty comfortable, and I love the ring! Damn my awkward hands.

Grin at the anal sex comments!!

This is mine. I think it’s an O - I do have fat fingers and large knuckles. It fits well but will fairly easily come off. I have an indent which takes a couple of days to go away, I do on occasion get eczema on my hands so I remove it then - that’s partly why I don’t wear my engagement ring very often.

Both of those rings look too tight.

itssquidstella · 23/05/2019 18:24

I think the rings in both those pictures look too small!

This is mine, taken from a rather odd angle. It sits on the skin rather than digging in so it's easy to remove, but doesn't spin round or slip down my finger.

I hate tight rings. They look horrible.

DaisiesAndCompasses · 23/05/2019 18:56

I'm going to have it resized again tomorrow Blush

OP posts:
ElizaPancakes · 23/05/2019 20:58

@itssquidstella I think I’ve got really squishy fingers - if my hands are relaxed there’s a gap between my finger and the top of the ring! Grin

gingercat02 · 23/05/2019 21:02

That looks way too tight OP. There is a chance they won't be able to resize it again. If there was metal removed from the band the ring may be too weak to stretch it up a size or 2

StuntCroissant · 23/05/2019 21:03

Both of those rings look far too tight! OP. You can't put up with that!

HundredMilesAnHour · 23/05/2019 21:08

Both the first two rings look far too tight. Bulging out of your ring is not a good look. Third ring is fine and a good example of how a ring that fits should look.

nespressowoo · 23/05/2019 21:14

This is mine, OP. It was a K pre-children but I had it resized to a L as even before them it was tight. I get eczema like PP under ring so don't wear engagement or eternity ring often. Yours looks far too tight.

Dasies that ring is far too tight. Take it off and go back to the jeweller. Lovely ring but too tight
