Dress with leggings. Is this still or thing or fashion faux pas?

Just wondered. I feel slightly too cold to go out in a dress so thought the leggings might warm me up but, if it's out of fashion, I don't want to look silly.

Dresses and leggings are perfect for the British seasons though.

Allows for boots in winter and sandals / flip flops in summer. If it's really hot then 'mini leggings' for modesty and chub rub.

Tights are pointless in the summer. Apart from being horribly uncomfortable (at any time of year) you can't do sandals / summer shoes and tights, that really would be a faux pas!

Men seem to cope fine without leggings, regardless of the weather or, um, their thighs rubbing together.

Yes but men can wear shorts a lot more easily and they don't tend to have fat legs compared to the rest of them like many women do.

I don't think it's fashionable but equally I am dressed like a butch netball teacher today as I have to do loads of physical stuff.

To me leggings plus dress is a bit Joules/Seasalt mum. Nothing wrong with that but not fashionable.

I wear this all the time because we live in Britain and Fashion is not designed for our weather - or indeed for basic practicality. Anyone making comments about fat people or frumpy/mummy dressing is just being unkind. Wear what you like.

I do get pissed off with the expense of tights, even though they admittedly look nicer with dresses. So I do go in phases of wearing leggings. I think it looks ok.

I run almost daily in leggings though and hate the athleisure look when I am not exercising, so do go scurrying back to tights within a week or two.

And I am a size 8 and have thigh rub. It is completely a matter of where you store fat. All of mine is on my fucking arse and legs.

I wear black leggings with knee-length dresses and skirts all the time, usually skater-style ones. Usually paired with ankle boots too. Don't give a shit if it's in fashion tights are horrid and uncomfortable. I expect I'm a walking fashion disaster but whatever!

By the way I'm a size 8 and have been wearing this look for the last 10 years without a care! Boring if we all dressed the same anyway
