What is your least favourite household chore?

I'm sure this has been asked a million times but hey, I'm sat breastfeeding a very hungry newborn and need some entertainment.

What is your least favourite household job? I generally quite enjoy housekeeping and don't mind doing the laundry but I just cannot bear putting clean clothes away. I find it so, so tedious.

Ironing. Fucking waste of time if ever there was one.

thenightsky · 21/05/2019 23:07

Vacuuming. It makes the sweat pour off me for some reason - probably moving our heavy furniture around.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 21/05/2019 23:20

My most hated cleaning task has to be mopping. It’s such hard work with my kitchen floor. I keep thinking somebody needs to invent a biodegradable floor tarp that you tape down and then just roll up and chuck on the compost heap when it looks grubby :o

Mummaofmytribe · 21/05/2019 23:27

IncyWincyGrownUp that idea is utter genius. Invent it immediately!!Grin

hmwhatsmynameagain · 21/05/2019 23:29

All of them!
Just about keep the kitchen sides clean enough to prepare food on, sinks Goode enough to wash clean from, toilet non hazardous, clothes washed and dried, but as for the rest humph, I live alone and don't have guests over

hmwhatsmynameagain · 21/05/2019 23:31

Oh and only eat potatoes with skins on, peeling is a nono, and you can buy frozen mash and roasties so why bother?

Seniorschoolmum · 21/05/2019 23:31

Cleaning the bathroom

Baskerville · 21/05/2019 23:38

Rinsing out hummus containers to go in the recycling, and we go through a fuck of a lot of the stuff.

ElizaPancakes · 21/05/2019 23:40

All. I hate all housekeeping.

My least worst one is laundry. Shove it in the machine and be done with it. DH has to hang it to dry then Grin

BlackPrism · 22/05/2019 00:05

Cooking. It's my favourite thing, either that or grocery shopping. DP likes vacuuming.

I hate laundry and cleaning the bathroom. Living in London the black dust is fucking everywhere when windows are open 😡

BlackPrism · 22/05/2019 00:05

Oh least favourite sorry!

PoshNorthEssex · 22/05/2019 00:11

@Baskerville do you have a dishwasher? I put mine through there! Same with peanut butter jars for the recycling although they do tend to shed their labels which is a bit annoying. Not as annoying as having to wash them though...

SparkleGem · 22/05/2019 00:30

Hoovering.. can't stand it!

DorothyZbornak · 22/05/2019 00:41

Changing the duvet. Awkward superking sized bastard!

RavenLG · 22/05/2019 01:53

Cleaning the shower (or bathroom in general).

We live in hard water area so it's always bloody streaky and looks horrible. I HATE cleaning the hairs out the plug too (DP has long hair so it is a nightmare). DP caught me off guard the other day when he muttered the words "Oh I cleaned the shower" .. went weak at the knees I did.

Bathroom in general as it gets so flippin dusty but I don't know how to clean the dust properly Obviously spray with cleaner and wipe surfaces, but then all the dust gets clogged onto the cloth, and if i rinse the cloth it goes down the drain and clogs it. HATE IT!

Marinated · 22/05/2019 08:08

Emptying the dishwasher (happy to load mind)
Cleaning out the dog tins for recycling.
Cleaning the oven - but mainly because it's a useless old oven that we can't afford to replace.

Theoldwoman · 22/05/2019 09:21

I quite like housework/cleaning but my least favourite would be dusting.

Baskerville · 22/05/2019 09:21

Fair point, Posh. This is where I mention that my other least favourite domestic task is unloading the dishwasher. Grin Though, in fairness, that's because I am also trying to wake up, make breakfast, make DS's packed lunch, and remember whatever swimming/Forest School/tombola/non-uniform day thing DS has just mentioned out of the blue, and get ready for work.

Angie169 · 22/05/2019 18:07

For those that hate cleaning their ovens get yourself to Lakeland and buy their own oven cleaner the stuff is bloody brilliant it's a little bit more expensive than some of the others but my God it does wonders.
( only downside is it doesn't come with a bag for you to put the oven trays in)
For those that say they hate picking stuff up get yourself one of those litter picker Grabber type things, they make picking stuff up much easier and it's fun (ish).

I hate ironing

thenightsky · 22/05/2019 18:34

RavenLG God yes... bathroom dust is so thick and heavy. I think it must be due to lovely fluffy towels. Skirting boards and the pipe bits behind the toilet are clogged with thick fluffy dust. I put on thick socks and use my feet to do the skirtings and nooks and crannies (I can't bend due to disability) Shake socks out of window, put back on and keep going. Dump socks in wash at the end.

Bubblysqueak · 22/05/2019 18:41

Putting the washing away.
I don't mind the rest of the process, but I hate putting it away eyes washing mountain in the corner, hoping not to have an avalanche

SunsetBunny · 22/05/2019 18:46

bathroom dust is so thick and heavy.

I think it’s toilet roll dust and some brands are worse than others!

youkiddingme · 22/05/2019 19:20

I do loathe bathroom dust. Where on earth does it all come from so fast? And hairs. No matter what type of cloth I use I seem to move hairs in the bathroom around for ages before actually getting them off a surface. I use so many cloths per cleaning session it's silly. I don't know how people who clean hotel bathrooms get it done in time and don't lose the plot.

wowfudge · 22/05/2019 19:33

Bathroom dust = dead skin towelled off, etc.

ShannonRockallMalin · 22/05/2019 19:36

I quite like housework generally, but I hate changing the bed linen (exhausting) and dusting blinds (tedious). I've also had to move up a gear in the hoovering department after a careless decision to get three white cats last year!
