Debenhams and returns?

MummyOfTwo92 · 20/05/2019 18:45

So this morning I visited Debenhams and bought an urban decay foundation. Cost £30. The lady in the shop "colour matched" me. She put three shades on my face then said which one was MY shade. So I've come home, done my make up and then realised much to my horror (because of the price) that actually the shade is too dark, in fact it makes me look orange. I've checked my receipt and it says returns or exchanges can only be made if the item is unused or unopened. Do I have a chance of getting my money back? I'm really not happy.

That sounds like it's definitely worth a go at taking back. They'll surely be able to see you've hardly used it. It would have been good if they'd shown you the shade in daylight or given you a sample to try at home.

Let us know how you get on!

OP, I would ask to speak directly to the manager.

Not to complain about the whole serious mismatch, just to explain how disappointed you are at the shade, you were really looking forward to having this new foundation, etc etc.

Would you be happy with an exchange?

I take back make up and have never had a problem. Boots are excellent for returns and I’ve returned a used Benefit Foundation and powder under the same circumstances as yourself to a Debenhams store.

Thanks for your replies ladies.

So I traveled to a different store closer to home. When I arrived I realised they did not have an urban decay counter so I went straight to the tills but they couldn't do anything and sent me to the Estee launder (maybe not spelt right 😂) stand. They straight away said that it wasn't acceptable to colour match and then get home try it on and be orange. They offered to colour match me with either a estee or dior one but it was the urban decay I had wanted so I declined and they gave me a full refund. Said they would pass on the information on to the store I bought it from.

I really didn't think they would offer a refund or a replacement of a different shade but happy they did.

Great news OP! Grin

Shame you didn't tried Estée Lauder double wear (unless you already have?).

It's brilliant.

@cleanisbliss no I haven't. Heard many great things but I was put off really by the women yesterday that colour matched me. Not only did I end up with the wrong shade but her work station was dirty, brushes were dirty and she clearly was just more interested in the sale rather than if it was right. Think I'll stick with revolution lol x
