What's everyone up to today?

I'm drinking my cup of tea, listening to the birds outside. It's completely silent other than them singing.

Think I'll do bacon butties when the girls are up then crack on getting a first coat of paint on my blanket box.

Dd2 wants to bake so we'll do that, and she wants to paint a picture she drew yesterday too. No idea what dd1's plans are. She's turning into a teenager & spends a lot of time in her room lately!

I need to iron too, and want to check I have everything for Rainbows and Guides on Tuesday evening in case I need to nip to the shops.

Roast pork for Sunday tea, then showers, chill in front of the tv and early nights all round.

What about you lot?

I'm doing the great Manchester run at 14:30 in the last heat. It's only a 10k'r but hoping I'll get it done in 55mins x

TemporaryPermanent · 19/05/2019 09:19

Selling at a car boot sale. I haven't done this for ten years but cleared out a load of stuff and suddenly thought I would do it, plus took some boxes of stuff from a friend trying to declutter.

It's not exactly going brilliantly but the atmosphere is quite pleasant.

I've just realised though that I'm stuffed. I'm supposed to be going to lunch at my mum's and I'm not going to be able to leave until the end because of how the cars are parked... shit!

TemporaryPermanent · 19/05/2019 09:19

Good luck isitraining!

cheeseislife8 · 19/05/2019 09:20

Revision! I've got two important exams tomorrow. Bacon butties sound like a good idea though, you've inspired me!

Adversecamber22 · 19/05/2019 09:25

Going for a walk with my mate and her dog for about 1.5 hours.meeting another friend to have coffee with and a catch up. Cook some dinner and watch some tv with DH and then spend some time planning our holiday. He needs to work almost all day today as he has a deadline so will only spend a couple of hours with him max. I’m gaming on my console and helping a friend do a hard mission for a difficult quest for the first time. Have helped about 20 people do this mission. Guys are often suprised that their guide is a woman.

happypotamus · 19/05/2019 09:35

DD is making her First Holy Communion, so sorting everything out, getting her ready, (me) wearing a dress and proper shoes which is something I do about once a year, mass, stressful family party, tidying up. Then, fit in all the usual stuff that has to happen on a Sunday: food shop (no idea how we will fit that in between the end of the party and the supermarket closing), tea, bathing DC, putting them to bed, ironing, making packed lunch, getting ready for work tomorrow as I foolishly agreed to an extra 13hr shift (because we need the money, not because I thought it would be fun)

Chilledout11 · 19/05/2019 09:38

Oh lovely to have Holy Conmunion! Could you order online - I don't know how you would fit in a grocery shop today?
I am going to the supermarket and making dinner. Sort uniforms etc. Hope to do something nice later (maybe cinema on my own)

Also wouldn't mind painting a chest of drawers and doing a bit of gardening.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 19/05/2019 09:45

I have just discovered a place where the marten in our roof has done some actual damage, but we still can't get at it.
DD is sitting with me to revise for her Russian (literature) exam. There's another exam after that and then she's done, results on the 8.6. at 10 h. She's got dyscalculia and if she gets more then 1 point for maths, it'll be drinks all round at work.
DS has to write his placement report, but isn't up yet.
DH's writing a paper to a deadline and DCat is lounging about behind the flower pots.

SystolicSyster · 19/05/2019 09:51

Need to go out for lemons and mascarpone. Then I'm baking this lemon and mascarpone cake - for tomorrow, so no sampling today.
Apart from that, I need to do some cleaning and tidying. Nothing more exciting planned, really.

Isitrainingihadntnoticed · 19/05/2019 09:59

Thank you Tempory!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/05/2019 09:59

That cake sounds gorgeous.

I'm still in bed. Slept badly on Friday night and stayed up late for Eurovision last night, so deserved a lie in! Eldest and boyfriend are here with hangovers and only just starting to stir too.

D and I going to go into town later for a coffee and because I've decided to treat myself to some GHDs. We might leave the menfolk at home.

Veggie sausages and sweet potato mash for tea later, Going to try a new side recipe of onions, shallots and leeks which are roasted and then get red wine and other stuff poured over them.

I'd like to do a bit of drawing later too but also need to do some work and some ironing.

Hellokittymania · 19/05/2019 10:05

I need to go and do some food shopping, since all I have here are raspberry cake and a Nutella doughnut. I think I might go for coffee as well.

I am learning Korean, so this afternoon I will probably watch some Korean Netflix or something.

wendz86 · 19/05/2019 10:06

Currently watching Aladdin (the original) and dd1 is making a book.

DD1 has gymnastics at 12 and will probably just do homework etc this afternoon.

puma84 · 19/05/2019 10:18

Waiting for the in laws to pick up DD's 4&2. They've got them until 6:30pm (yipeeeee)

Dh and I are going to take the dog on a long walk and get some lunch. When we get home I've got some housework to do and a couple of loads of washing and a pile of ironing that needs doing. Dh has some diy jobs.

Then we will spend the rest of our child free day binge watching something on nextflix.

When the girls are back it's bath and bed for them and getting their bags/lunches ready for school and nursery tomorrow.

lljkk · 19/05/2019 11:17

I just spent 70 minutes cleaning the oven while listening to politics programmes.
Laundry.
Now breakfast.
Fancy a cycle ride later.
Other jobs & errands to do, basically.

Theoldwoman · 19/05/2019 12:08

After 7pm here ...

Been a nice day but really didn't do anything because I didn't feel 100%. Did get the bedding washed off my bed though, a bit of gardening, then had a nap on the couch! A walk with the neighbour and an easy dinner. Just pottering now.
1 teen is in the bath, the other studying!

lucysmam · 19/05/2019 14:29

Baking is underway at last! Donut muffins from a recipe I found on Pinterest - no idea how they'll turn out but dd2's happily spooning mixture into cake cases at the mo.

I've ordered waterproofs for my upcoming residential (hopefully won't need them!), given the blanket box a lick of of paint but need to do a second coat, organised Tuesday's Rainbow and Guide activities, finished off the last bedroom wall almost caught up on pots, put some washing away.

Think it's time for a quiet cup of coffee!!

Trying to get a grip. I’ve had too much inside and Internet time and are feeling rubbish.
I’ve binge eaten and had a cry too, would love to crawl inside someone else’s clean and tidy little life (taking dh and ds with me)

Tattletale · 19/05/2019 14:43

Eldest DD is away on her first residential with her school tomorrow (sob!) So am running around like a blue arsed fly getting everything ready!

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 19/05/2019 14:52

Decluttering session with DH and trip to the tip with that and garden waste. I was going to garden but it's drizzling.

Younger dog is being a pain so I might brave the weather and take her out. And then do the ironing when I get home.

We have a friend staying over tonight so I should sort out the spare room, too.

PrincessMaryaBolkonskaya · 19/05/2019 14:57

I really need to put mumsnet down and pick up a book. I’m normally a voracious reader, last year was slow but I’ve just browsed through my lists on goodreads and realised I haven’t finished a single book in 2019 Blush

Can someone come turn my WiFi off please

Apart from that I’m chilling. Need to do more laundry, tea is picky bits as the teens aren’t here. Then DP and I will watch a film this evening. It’s his turn to chose so I’m sure it’ll be an obscure ‘unmissable’ SciFi that I’ve never heard of.

Oh and Wine

lucysmam · 19/05/2019 15:25

@Tattletale I did exactly the same when dd1 went away for the first time, last year! It's scary!

I'm sure your dd will have a ball though and loads to tell you when she comes home :)

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 19/05/2019 15:39

Update:
DD is still revising, in between she sings Russian songs.
DS is really doing his report (yay!!!).
DH is still working on his text.
And I did nothing: watched Liverpool and Klopp on YouTube (BVB fan), Shakespeare in original pronunciation, a Lingthusiasm podcast on gestures, did some vocabulary repetitions and put a wash on.

happypotamus · 19/05/2019 17:10

First Holy Communion was lovely, family party went well, no one argued and fell out with anyone which is good going, no time for supermarket but we have loads of left-over party food that will keep us going today and tomorrow.

Stravapalava · 19/05/2019 17:13

Been to the park and to lunch with the DC and their friends from school this morning. DH cleared the shed and built a bike.

Came back to get ready and now I'm at work until midnight.
