Are there any conspiracy theories that you just think could have an element of truth?

I love all things conspiracy theory - from a psychological/social point of view it's interesting to see what makes people fearful or pessimistic.

But I often do see some conspiracy theories a bit like Urban legends in that they could be an exaggerated truth.

Are there any conspiracy theories or rumours that you just think 'maybe...' or even ones you're completely sold on.

It's widely acknowledged that models/actresses probably have tummy tucks soon after having babies.

I can hardly care if they have surrogates or not, though.

I would suspect that twins in older mums were the result of infertility treatment of some sort. But do we need conspiracies about it? It's their private lives.

IrmaFayLear · 21/05/2019 16:44

Well, of course we all know that, but they maintain that they are Special People who a) gave birth to their own biological child at 50 and b) sprung back into shape after two weeks with a touch of Pilates.

bluewavysea · 21/05/2019 16:49

Nothing at all wrong in surrogacy, and their private lives are their own. But there's so much of their lives that they want and DO make public. It's when they try to deceive us.

Lweji · 21/05/2019 16:50

I think it's less of a problem with them and more how people are obsessed with them.

bigKiteFlying · 21/05/2019 16:50

I think Hollywood pg and effortless and less about conspiracies and more about the structural inequalities in Hollywood and the financial and social pressures there.

Women tend to have shorter careers so there's pressure to wait for children then have twins - both sexes full experience in shortest time - plus they want work they want film parts - they don't want to put producers and directors off so of course everything is wonderful and back to normal - and articles public seem happy to read are all fluff pieces.

Male actors becoming fathers like wider society there's less negativity and directors and producers will assume les impact on them.

I assume that egg donation is more widely practiced than acknowledged: after all it’s a very private matter. I find it difficult to believe that anyone would be reckless enough to deliberately have twins - but maybe I’m naive - I’ve certainly seen enough of the risks involved to rule it out as a choice (as opposed to an unwanted side effect).

My friend is a GP & she gets very pissed off with the celebs effortlessly getting pregnant in their 40s.

Surrogacy itself maybe not so much, but commercial surrogacy is definitely iffy. Which I imagine rich mega stars have the means to use.

Herland · 21/05/2019 17:03

Nothing at all wrong in surrogacy

Except their is.

Herland · 21/05/2019 17:03

there

BeyondOverTheMoon · 21/05/2019 17:03

X post, herland!

Lweji · 21/05/2019 17:04

Attempting to murder someone in a car crash is quite frankly ludicrous.

Everybody knows that you need to throw the car down a cliff or a pier, and even so, sometimes it fails.

VoteJadot · 21/05/2019 17:06

if you'd heard that no flights exist on those routes, it's reasonable to believe at first because you've no reason not to believe someone you trust who told you that

No, it's completely unreasonable to believe that there are no direct flights in the southern hemisphere just because someone told you. That's, like, the definition of utter gullibility and lack of a second's worth of critical thought with a hefty dose of unpleasant Eurocentrism in for good measure.

bluewavysea · 21/05/2019 17:09

Herland I agree, I should have explained myself better.

millythepink · 21/05/2019 17:28

The chances of a woman getting pregnant naturally after 45 are vanishingly small. But these middle aged actresses insist on perpetuating the myth that they are still youthful and ever so fertile even at 50. It's such nonsense.

SirVixofVixHall · 21/05/2019 17:34

Nothing wrong with surrogacy ? Buying the body of a woman far poorer than you ? No different from buying a kidney. Should be banned.

Franklymydearidontgiveaham · 21/05/2019 17:36

There's a 99 year lock on the Dunblane inquest findings. Suggestions of a far reaching peadophilia web.

I've just googled this and I don't understand why certain files are kept locked for so long...it's made me very uncomfortable because the reasons cited don't make sense to me.

SirVixofVixHall · 21/05/2019 17:36

Lots of older Hollywood stars adopted because badly done abortions had damaged them internally. They were often sexually exploited by older men in the industry, and paid with their fertility.
Marilyn Monroe couldn’t conceive for this reason. Tragic.

I don't think older actresses are particularly interested in perpetuating myths.
They will be interested in having children and on keeping their privacy on how they achieved it.

It's extraordinary how invested some people are with celebrities children. All the speculation about if X or Y are pregnant, and how far along, etc. Such people deserve to be lied to. Grin

Ginburee · 21/05/2019 17:47

27 pages and no one has discussed that Michael Jacksons death was allegedly faked and he is still alive.

BishopBrennansArse · 21/05/2019 17:49

@Ginburee I don't believe that but I do believe he could have been murdered

IABUQueen · 21/05/2019 17:50

Attempting to murder someone in a car crash is quite frankly ludicrous.

I didn’t say that’s what happened :D. There are other theories out there. The one thing I feel resonates with me is that we haven’t been told the full truth. Not saying which truth that might be tho
