How many houseplants do you have?

I have none at all, unless you include a sad looking basil plant on my kitchen window sill.

I do love plants but our bastarding dog has eaten/destroyed every one over the years and I worry that if I get more he'll do the same or even poison himself with one.

So tell me about your lovely plants.

In fact, I’ve spent a large amount of the weekend repotting my plants so they’ve got lots more room to grow. I love them!

I have a collection of orchids of different types that I tend. I also resuscitate other people’s neglected orchids. I’m less interested in other house plants. My DD (13) likes plants and has about 6 that she lovingly looks after.

I have four cactai (is that right?), a never ending grass head, and (at the moment) a sunflower that needs re-potting outside.

I'm not very good with plants usually.

One - it was given to me as a gift by a student and I am desperately trying (mostly failing) to keep it alive. It is always looking like it's dying. Far more trouble than I'd anticipated.

Dontcomeinmygarden · 12/05/2019 21:01

4 mini cacti of various shapes
2 larger bunny ear cacti 🌵
3 snake plants
1 mistletoe cactus
1 curly spider plant
1 palm
1 giant umbrella palm

I adore them, they make me so happy.
I have my eye on a calathea next, more snake plants and maybe a giant monstera!

None - I'm a serial killer as far as house plants are concerned!

My late Mum used to come in and say 'Sshh can you hear that?'

'Hear what?'

'That poor bloody plant screaming for water!'

Surprisingly I am quite good at outdoor plants and a keen gardener!

Decormad38 · 12/05/2019 21:25

@Lemonmousse that made me laugh

Thrupennybrit · 12/05/2019 21:28

35 not including kitchen herbs.

  1. More in the garden. I also have a tray of cuttings that I'm rooting in.

Plus a greenhouse with veg etc.

But of a plant lady I think 😂

Two, recent flowering ones from the supermarket one week when the cut flowers all looked a bit naff. One of them is incredible for less than half the price of a bunch of flowers.

fancynancyclancy · 12/05/2019 21:34

2 at the moment but both seem to be dying as pee usual. I can never keep orchids alive what am I doing wrong.

I love indoor plants, they’re good for your health.

CherryPlum · 12/05/2019 21:44

I love gardening but don't do indoor plants - the soil attracts mites/bugs/flies. I had one particular indoor plant a few years back where I discovered the soil FULL of millions of tiny bugs. Totally put me off.

  1. Some of the plants in my house I've had since the 1990s and one is over 50 years old which is from my parents.
