What foods are like "crack" to you?

For me it's peanuts. Any nuts really but salted KPs in particular, I literally cannot stop eating them once I get going. I have to ration them to weekends only.

And tiger bread. I could stand at the kitchen side with a bread knife and some butter and make serious headway in eating a whole loaf if I let myself.

What foods are like this for you?

Nuts, definitely. I know the unsalted sort are supposed to be something of a health food in some circles, but if shelled they're just too easy to eat. You can get over 700 calories worth in one Lidl (pun not intended) pack. Shock I think the only way I can restrain myself around brazils is if they need shelling with a dodgy nutcracker.

(Brings back memories of scraping them off the shell with my teeth at Christmas.)

AhoyDelBoy · 15/05/2019 16:27

Oh yes I see a PP has mentioned Kinder Buenos, I went through a stage of being addicted to those. But I think I ate so many I kind of put myself off. Now it’s chocolate peanuts, I eat a bag every night Blush

At the moment I’m going to be quite smug and say Pineapple and strawberries. I can’t get enough of them when they are sweet and ripe. The pineapple has to be a deep yellow colour and soft and juicy and the strawberries have to be huge, deep red and room temperature.

When I’m not being so holy it would have to be butterkist popcorn.

Ronsters · 15/05/2019 17:00

Crisps
Bread, or crackers. I could eat a whole loaf/pack with butter/jam/pate

TheDogsMother · 15/05/2019 17:12

Sultanas, tortilla chips, prawn crackers, crumpets/toast/hot cross buns and butter. I cannot allow any of them in the house

BearSoFair · 15/05/2019 17:26

Salt and vinegar Pringles. Once I pop I really can't stop, it's true Grin

DuffBeer · 15/05/2019 17:45

Tyrell's salt and vinegar crisps - can easily eat a big bag in about 15 mins.

Sweet and salty popcorn - again, a big bag can be demolished very quickly.

French bread and cheese

It used to be a large meal plus extras from McDonald's or a large Dominos with potato wedges, chicken wings and a box of warm cookies and full fat coke. Had to knock that on the head though as it was a serious addiction.

Fuzzyend · 15/05/2019 17:56

Choc raisins
Crusty bread
Squashiea
Any biscuit
Choc brazils
Peanut butter

I could go on.....

M&S roasted salted nuts. Premium skinless nuts only.
May as well be crack as they cost £6.25 a pot Grin

One day I slowly ate through the tub. 325g of nuts. 2000 calories in a day on nuts alone. Nuts!

BummyKnocker · 15/05/2019 23:50

cheese, clotted cream, manilife peanut butter, taramasalata, sausage rolls, egg mayo sandwiches, calamari.

FenellaVelour · 15/05/2019 23:50

Nachos. Specifically, the Old El Paso Nachips. Can eat the whole bag.

SimplySteveRedux · 15/05/2019 23:51

Homemade chicken tikka masala even though it can give me tummy ache and bathroom issues hours later.

Yummmmmm, send me some?!

cantfindname · 16/05/2019 01:42

This sounds ridiculously healthy and not in the spirit of the thread but I have a serious addiction to spinach! I can eat a whole bag at a sitting with no problem.

To counteract the healthiness I am also addicted to cheese (practically any cheese) and freshly baked bread.

And bacon, thinly sliced crispy bacon, preferably loads of it and contained in the freshly baked bread (see above)

cricketmum84 · 16/05/2019 06:07

Totally agree with the tiger bread! It just smells sooooooo good!

I'm dieting and not allowing myself any bread but I make sandwiches for everyone in a morning in tiger bread and sometimes snaffle the crust.

On Tuesday at work I had a salad and the woman next to me had tiger bread. I almost took it out of her hands.

Livpool · 16/05/2019 08:18

Shortbread

MyGastIsFlabbered · 16/05/2019 16:04

It used to be crunchy nut cornflakes. But since I've gone vegan they're off limits.

I have actually found some nuts I don't like. Salt and vinegar peanuts in like a greasy shell. Nope, not for me. Yuk.

Crisps

IAmNotPatientOrPregnant · 19/05/2019 11:22

Coffee flavoured anything, especially coffee ice cream.
The new hagen daaz machiatto and brownie ice cream is to die for!

cricketmum84 · 19/05/2019 12:40

@IAmNotPatientOrPregnant oh hell yes! Coffee flavoured ice cream all the way! There is an ice cream parlour just up the road from us that makes all the ice cream on site. I get a pot with a scoop of dark chocolate Malteser and a scoop of cafe au lait. I swear it's better than sex.
