How long would you wait for a mate to turn up?

Made a firm date for lunch with a friend, it was confirmed this morning. They're now an hour late & no communication. How long would you hang around for before you give up?

Depending on how far they’ve come and mode of transport but an hour seems reasonable.

Crunchymum · 10/05/2019 12:36

I'd probably order lunch and then head off.

Although I'd be a bit concerned about any of my friends if they didn't turn up and were and incommunicado!!!

FadedRed · 10/05/2019 12:36

15-20 minutes, maybe half an hour if this was completely out of character for them to be late. Presume you have tried to contact them?

TheThievingDIL · 10/05/2019 12:39

I'd check the traffic if they were supposed to be arriving by car or the public transport website. If they're driving, they can't contact you.
I'd order lunch for myself after an hour and then go (depending on what I had planned for the rest of the day).
On a work day, I'd give them 15-20 before eating.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 10/05/2019 12:41

I would be really worried by now!

BlackCatSleeping · 10/05/2019 12:43

Not an hour!! I'd have ordered after about 20 mins. Then left when I finished.

MrsJonesAndMe · 10/05/2019 12:46

Have they turned up? No more than half an hour!

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 10/05/2019 12:49

Have lunch, go home. Perhaps ask staff (if it's a cafe or something, not McD!) to pass on a message if someone comes in looking round?

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 10/05/2019 12:54

have you tried ringing them?

Zoeputthatdown · 10/05/2019 12:56

Up to an hour without any word from them.
I hope they're all right!

Pegsinarow · 10/05/2019 12:56

30 mins or so if no word or sign of them, about an hour if they texted with a reason or apology to say they were on their way

Pegsinarow · 10/05/2019 12:59

Yes I'd be worried too if it was confirmed this morning and they are not answering. Are they driving? Their phone could have run out of juice of course. I think I'd give it another 30 mins in your shoes op? Are you sure they are not sitting waiting for you in a different place? (That's happened to me before.)

IHaveBrilloHair · 10/05/2019 12:59

An hour if they were usually reliable, actually perhaps longer as I'd be worried rather than pissed off.

notangelinajolie · 10/05/2019 13:10

If they were usually reliable I'd wait till I heard from them if I didn't have anywhere else to be.

SuziQ10 · 10/05/2019 13:17

I'd have gone by now. Without any communication at all I wouldn't wait around longer than 30-40mins maximum!

rritchie44 · 10/05/2019 13:21

Did they show up?

FilledSoda · 10/05/2019 13:41

Less than an hour , 45 minutes tops if they were normal punctual.

Trippedupagain · 10/05/2019 13:43

Any of my friends did this, I'd be beside myself with worry about what has happened to them!

outvoid · 10/05/2019 14:13

I waited half an hour for a date once, such a waste of time and I doubt I’d do it nowadays- young and stupid. He was texting me throughout tbf but it was still a shit move.

Nowadays I’d draw the line at 15 mins, I don’t have the patience.

PuppyMonkey · 10/05/2019 14:16

I’m Hmm at people saying they’d wait an hour. What, really? With no communication at all?

I’d be sending a text after 20-25 minutes tops.

Zoeputthatdown · 10/05/2019 14:18

Yes an hour because they're usually considerate and there'd be something wrong for them not to give me warning if they were running late.

PickAChew · 10/05/2019 14:19

Unless there was a good reason why they were late, id6have eaten and gone well before an hour was up, texting a sorry to have missed you message.

PuppyMonkey · 10/05/2019 14:20

Well yes, it’s the “something wrong” bit that would make me try and contact them to find out if they were ok. I wouldn’t just sit there for an hour.Confused

IrisAtwood · 10/05/2019 14:21

I’ve waited up to half an hour if I was somewhere that I could sit and get a drink.

Chewbecca · 10/05/2019 14:21

So you have rung and sent a text with no answer?
