I’ve no idea where my cat poops.

We have a cat flap and he saunters outside occasionally. I presume he poops out there. But I have no idea where he actually goes.
I’m always seeing people on here talking about cats pooing in their own garden, or the neighbours garden or the flower beds, and the angst it causes.
Don’t cats bury it? Are they doing it on the patio? How do you know where they go?
So as not to drip feed he does wander in my neighbours house and garden, but they adore him and have never complained about him pooping there. He doesn’t really go anywhere else.

I can tell you.

In my garden. Please tell him to stop.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 09/05/2019 23:02

They don’t bury it properly, they give the soil a cursory flick after. They shit all over my mum’s lawn. It’s awful.

Broken11Girl · 09/05/2019 23:09

Don't worry about it. Oh fgs the previous responses illustrate a problem with cat haters on here. One cat will poop once a day or so, it's barely noticeable even if they don't bury it, I don't believe understand posters who claim their lawn is covered in cat poop.
That said, I would advise getting a litter tray in case of bad weather, illness etc.

If you like around a couple of houses with cats it's not hard. In my old house, tiny garden, several cats used it as their toilet, so it was smelly and very noticeable. Gave me the rage everytime I had to pick up their shits.

Dcat's favourite places are under our trampoline where it's a little sheltered from the rain, and earth rather than grass. Or in the neighbour's lovely rockery, while I pretend not to notice. Or under another neighbour's fir trees.
Dd tried to grab him before he had properly finished once and he dribbled wee on to her furry slippers - she was not happy!

I pick up cat poo from my garden at least once a week. My young children "help" me in the garden. It infuriates me having to pick up pet poop when I don't own any pets. I have enough poo from my own children to deal with. Even if they bury it, when I'm weeding I come across it and have to chuck away all the soil around it too. Often with maggots in it!! And it bloody stinks and gives me the heave. You can train animals to do it in their own garden/litter tray and if they're not doing it there then don't let them out! I'd never let my child go and poo in someone's garden even if they buried it! Rank and irresponsible. Rant over.

Passtherioja · 09/05/2019 23:24

My neighbour has her front garden gravelled (not a euphemism)...my cat struts over there for a poo regular as clockwork every morning, I think she things neighbour has installed HUGE kitty little just for her!!

MrsTerryPratchett · 09/05/2019 23:27

In my garden.

And mine before I got a dog. And yes, it's noticeable.

afrikat · 09/05/2019 23:32

Under my sodding blueberry bushes. I have to clean it up every week 😡

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 09/05/2019 23:34

In my garden.

I pick up after my dogs but the fucking bastarding bird killing cunting cars poo bloody everywhere and no one does a thing about it.

motortroll · 09/05/2019 23:48

You can't really stop them. I had a litter tray for months when I got my cat which she used while shut in for first 3 weeks but as soon as I let her out she just went outside.

I don't know where she poos either.

The only way not to get cat poo in your garden is to get a cat! We used to get loads fromneighbours cats and I used to say omg why can't they have a litter tray??? I now realise cats do what the fuck they like.

SkiingIsHeaven · 09/05/2019 23:51

It is disgusting. Cats should be banned if owners don't pick up after them.

People complain about dog owners but at least the majority of people clean up after their dogs and don't let them poop in the neighbour's gardens.

Cat owners don't even think about cleaning up after these pointless animals.

Gentlemanwiththistledownhair · 09/05/2019 23:53

In my garden too. And when there are multiple cats in the neighborhood it's not just one poo... And it's even worse when it's a cat with obvious digestive issues Envy (not envy).

And no, they don't bury it.

HarrietSchulenberg · 10/05/2019 00:21

My cat used to crap somewhere unknown until he got too old to jump onto the fence to escape the garden. Then he cheerfully crapped all over the back garden until the day he popped his little furry clogs. He was a strange little blighter who'd dig a hole, poo outside it then diligently fill the hole leaving the crap still sitting on the edge.

Scrubbydubby · 10/05/2019 12:37

Lol @ banning cats if they’re not picked up after. Should I follow my cat round every time she ventures outside with a little bag?

Kazzyhoward · 10/05/2019 12:39

Don’t cats bury it?

No that's a myth perpetuated by cat owners to make them feel better about the mess their cats leave in other peoples' gardens.

At best, they make a token gesture to kick a bit of soil over it.

CarrieBlu · 10/05/2019 12:41

It’s very fucking noticeable (and a health risk) when my toddler steps in it. Why should I have to clean up after someone else’s pet? It’s pet owners with attitudes like this that are the problem. You might not take pride in your garden or care if your child steps in shit, but some of us do.

Kazzyhoward · 10/05/2019 12:41

No, train the sodding thing to use a litter tray like other responsible cat owners do.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 10/05/2019 12:42

Haha why the duck would I make that up? I’ve seen it with my own eyes. We have check the grass every time we use her garden so the kids don’t step in it. We pick 3/4 bits up last weekend when we wanted to put our new tent up to check it since funny enough I didn’t want cat shit all over it.

Lordamighty · 10/05/2019 12:43

I’ve picked 6 lots of cat’s poo from my elderly mother’s garden in the past week. All deposited on her small back lawn, it’s disgusting & if I knew which neighbour’s cat it was I would make sure it went back to their garden via a shovel.

Scrubbydubby · 10/05/2019 12:43

No, train the sodding thing to use a litter tray like other responsible cat owners do

I have. She ignores it and goes outside anyway.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 10/05/2019 12:44

We don’t get any in our garden, there’s only one cat in our cul de sac and we squirt him with water every time he comes in the garden so he doesn’t anymore.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 10/05/2019 12:46

I practically have a 'WELCOME' sign up for cats in my garden, but none venture here :(. I'd happily put up with their ablutions for the odd nose-boop or snuggle.

Lordamighty · 10/05/2019 12:51

Squirting them with water only works if you catch them in the act. My DM is in her 90’s & the cat that uses her back garden goes in the night, what is she supposed to do stake it out for a couple nights to catch the bastard cat in the act.
Cats burying it is a myth, have you ever seen one digging up a lawn to cover their shit? Thought not.

ChoudeBruxelles · 10/05/2019 12:51

How do you train the cat to only use a litter tray, Our cat is nearly a year old. He used the litter tray until we started letting him outside. We keep him in at night and he doesn't use it at all now.
