I’ve no idea where my cat poops.

We have a cat flap and he saunters outside occasionally. I presume he poops out there. But I have no idea where he actually goes.
I’m always seeing people on here talking about cats pooing in their own garden, or the neighbours garden or the flower beds, and the angst it causes.
Don’t cats bury it? Are they doing it on the patio? How do you know where they go?
So as not to drip feed he does wander in my neighbours house and garden, but they adore him and have never complained about him pooping there. He doesn’t really go anywhere else.

Nah you’re alright thanks Brexit I think I’ll just carry on with my life without worrying about it. I’m not the one with the problem after all.
Before I got her I had to deal with other cats crapping in my garden and gave it no more thought than the badgers and foxes that shit there too. It is far less annoying that the dog shits left behind by ignorant dog owners the DC step in every time we go for a walk. That is irresponsible and illegal.

BrexitBingoGenerator · 10/05/2019 15:20

I what about the cat poo that my children step in right outside our front door? We don’t even have to go for a walk.

BrexitBingoGenerator · 10/05/2019 15:23

Loving the idea of you stoically not giving a shit as all the badgers and foxes shat in your garden. I will try o be as noble as you scrubby.

I’ve thought of an idea for you by the way- why don’t you kindly Let your neighbours know that your cat doesn’t seem to be pooing in your litter tray or garden. They could let you know when it poos in theirs and then you can go and clean it up and get on with your life, as you say.

Hmmm, poo causes strong feelings! Rightly so, no one wants to step in it.
What mystifies me is that we never see any cat poo in our garden. It's big, fair enough, but you'd think you would see some.

My cat chooses to poo outside in an unknown to me location too, rather than use a litter tray so, barring keeping her in (which I think would be cruel), there is little I can do. I wouldn't mind at all if all our neighbours sprayed her with water to prevent her using their gardens.
We do get foxes pooing in our garden so having a cat doesn't totally let us off the clearing up poo hook.

BrexitBingoGenerator · 10/05/2019 15:53

I’m sorry for sounding like such an awful, bitter, cat-hating person; cat poo really does bring out the worst in me. I’m really not such a frightful person in real life 😬. Anyway- why is it that dog poo is illegal yet cat poo isn’t? It’s just as gross.

Scrubbydubby · 10/05/2019 16:07

Dog poo is more toxic than cat poo. Also dogs aren’t allowed to roam free like cats are so I suppose it’s easier to police.

MissPollyHadADolly19 · 10/05/2019 16:19

At my old house my cat used to use my neighbours garage roof as a litter tray.Blush Couldn't exactly get there to clean it up nor could I stop him.
For those saying just keep them indoors, its not that easy and not all cats have an owner, it's also cruel to keep a once outdoors cat inside.

How is cat shit better? Have you heard of toxoplasmosis?

Lordamighty · 10/05/2019 17:00

Hilarious that dog owners have been described as irresponsible but cat owners seem quite mystified that their cats shit in other people’s gardens & not their own. Maybe the cats know how disgusting their own excrement is prefer to leave it away from where they live.

OneThreadOnly0101 · 10/05/2019 17:11

One of my cats will only poo in her litter tray. If she's outside she comes back in. For safety reasons I assume.

The other one prefers to go outside. He is very thorough in both digging a hole and burying well. He goes in public flowerbed type things, so not in anyone's garden and not where anyone would be walking so thankfully he's not a menace to society.

spartacus He would happily visit you for a some attention, provided you have no cats of your own. He's always inviting himself to other people's houses and also visits the local school Blush

But he is though! He's a menace to the poor gardeners who have to maintain the flower beds! Wink

Get a man to pee in perimeter of your garden. Doesnt work with lady pee.
Cats f off. Works well

EnidButton · 10/05/2019 21:05

Judging by the cat conference that was taking place in my garden this morning, he was probably there. They were all day around one larger Garfield lookalike like a meeting. Very pretty looking cars but when the heck did this start?! I'm not usually up at 6am so my garden might be the local cat hangout

EnidButton · 10/05/2019 21:06

*my garden might've been the local cat hangout for weeks.

EnidButton · 10/05/2019 21:07

all sat round...

So sorry, I accidentally posted before I finished. I blame the cats.

YesQueen · 10/05/2019 22:01

@EnidButton they just all jump in through my window Hmm
I got out the shower once to find a random cat asleep on my bed and my cat sat there like "just don't ask. Ok hooman?"

EnidButton · 11/05/2019 00:58

Grin Queen Once they find somewhere they like they must send out cat mails to everyone in the area and invite them round. The filthy looks I got this morning trying to move their meeting along! Zero fucks were given.

BellaBellaBelle · 11/05/2019 08:05

I know nothing about cats, but is it a thing that they don’t like to poo in their own territory? We have no cats of our own, but the 5 neighbouring cats all poo in our garden.

Lordamighty · 11/05/2019 08:28

Apparently Bella, although cat owners seem to think their cats don’t do it at all and all that cat shit on your lawn is just a figment of your imagination.

RedSheep73 · 11/05/2019 08:37

One of mine likes to go in my flowerbeds, drives me mad but I don't seem to be able to stop him. The other one likes to sit in the litter tray and poo over the edge on the floor.

Iwantacookie · 11/05/2019 08:38

I too have weird cats who come back in to use litter tray (apart from the one who comes back in and MISSES the litter tray)

Citrus peel keeps cats away they hate the smell.
For people thinking cats should be inside animals. No thanks I like the birds kept away and cats are great at doing that.

The real question is 'where will it end'?

Fluffycloudland77 · 12/05/2019 13:21

Mine uses his tray at night.

Also uses the nicest front garden as that’s the boundary to his territory.

Really pisses me off
