If you wake up and think "ooh I feel like baking today" what's your go to?

Usually I do Welsh cakes, occasionally brownies. My dad's is always a fruitcake.

I'm getting it a lot at the minute where I wake up and think 'I fancy having a little potch in the kitchen this morning'.

I don't usually eat my own cakes, more so presently as I'm about a stone and a half into an intended 2 stone weightloss. I just really like baking but would love some inspiration.

I've also been reading the protestant tray bakes thread but as I'm C of E I'm a bit worried about getting smited ( I jest!)

What is your go to quick bake?

Mountains of cupcakes

Banana bread, lemon drizzle or brownies

Spudlet · 09/05/2019 11:25

Fairy cakes. I normally bake with DS these days so ease and speed is required, and I can bash those out without a recipe!

Aimily · 09/05/2019 11:25

Sugar biscuits recently, really quick and straight forward, used to make cupcakes quite frequently and send them to work with my oh.

GottaGetUp · 09/05/2019 11:26

Ginger cake

Might make some now actually

FrenchBoule · 09/05/2019 11:28

Browse the recipes and see what I have, kids prefer chocolate, I like fruity stuff.
If I feel like baking tomorrow then it’s sourdough bread.

NorthEndGal · 09/05/2019 11:29

Pulla - Finnish coffee bread flavoured with cardamom
Gingersnaps
Thumbprint cookies
Newfoundland style gingerbread with lemon sauce

Chocolate cake, chocolate brownies, chocolate chip cookies, or melting moments.

Disfordarkchocolate · 09/05/2019 11:33

Muffins or flapjack if I want something quick. I made this last week after seeing it recommended on another thread and it now added to my 'make this a lot' list, it's so good but takes an extra 10 or so minutes to cook than it says. www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/694633/double-chocolate-loaf-cake

Paul Hollywood’s ginger cake or his gingernuts (ooer missus). We like ginger in this family!

Or the BBC Good Food vegan lemon cake- because I like teasing judgemental, preachy non vegans Grin

MondeoFan · 09/05/2019 11:37

Sausage rolls
Mini fruit crumbles
Pizzas
Or
Banana Muffins (if I Notice the bananas are over ripe)

MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours · 09/05/2019 11:38

Brownies usually
Was thinking about making some biscuits the other day, but couldn't find the recipe I wanted it was this one!!
Really like Sticky Gingerbread, but that needs a day or two to get really sticky so not good for an impromptu bake up!
Lemonade scones are really quick but have not tried them yet with GF flour, so I might do that later. And get some clotted cream too.

MaidenMotherCrone · 09/05/2019 11:42

Scones
Victoria sponge
Chocolate sponge
Lemon & blueberry bundt cake

Most Sundays do them all

I always kid myself they'll last the week until my next day off...... the lot gone by Wednesday.
