I fancy having a bit of fun for a few years what should I fantasise about

Audi TT convertible

StillMedusa · 08/05/2019 21:05

As a fellow TA... and now my kids have grown up I have had several fun cars.. all older models but good .

I've had ...
Smart Roadster . (Brabus version is the best) awesome fun.
Mazda MX ..a bit more solid I guess
Smart Fortwo ..convertible

and currently and Streetka which I found with only 11k genuine miles on it!! A bit thirsty but great fun to drive.

They are all 2 seater convertibles and cheap to run. I also like the Audi TT but the petrol costs put me off on my lowly wage Grin

They are a bit of fun in y boring middle aged life!!!

I dream of zipping about in a vintage Nissan figaro. They’re usually a sage green or grey colour but I saw a pink one today and felt a huge surge of jealousy!

CooperD1 · 08/05/2019 21:22

I have my dream fun car! A new Mini Cooper. Loads of fun to drive but maybe you're after something a bit more prestige?

StrumpersPlunkett · 08/05/2019 21:30

Have no idea. Have had sensible Skoda for 15 years.

Definitely an Audi TT.

Mother87 · 08/05/2019 23:01

Also dreaming of a Nissan Figaro one dayGrin

DrWhy · 08/05/2019 23:03

A Mk2 Mazda MX5, although look carefully at them as they tend to rust. I adored mine!

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 08/05/2019 23:05

A Fiat 500. I had one and I loved it so much. And then DS got too tall to sit in the back of it.

One day in the future I will buy several of them, in different colours so that I can match my car to my outfit every day. (I probably won't do it, but the intention is there.)

IncyWincyGrownUp · 08/05/2019 23:22

I once saw a purple figaro. It was a thing of beauty.

Gentlemanwiththistledownhair · 08/05/2019 23:30

Toyota gt86! Gorgeous car, great fun and more reasonably priced than a TT (and better looking! Wink )

thenightsky · 08/05/2019 23:33

I've got a smart brabus roadster. It's my last child. I love him Smile

AlunWynsKnee · 08/05/2019 23:40

If you like the Skoda then a TT would be fun but vaguely familiar. If you have loads of money then an R or S or RS Audi would be good.
Someone at dc's school has a TT. I think it might be a TA. We just assume they don't rely on a TA salary!

SrSteveOskowski · 09/05/2019 00:11

Beemer. Z3 or Z4. Gorgeous cars.

Imaystillbedrunk · 09/05/2019 00:16

MX5, light, fun, roof down, reasonable cost. I loved mine. When the kids are teenagers I getting one again

Kiwiinkits · 09/05/2019 00:42

Consider something a bit different. Buy an e-bike.

StrumpersPlunkett · 09/05/2019 06:54

Ah love the idea if an e bike but 30+ mile commute each way takes a car.

I have a Mini Cooper and I love it, getting another next year, the one I have now is a special edition and its an auto, its just so easy to drive.

BikeRunSki · 09/05/2019 07:04

I had a “new” Mini Cooper when they were still quite unusual, early 2000s. I dream of getting a works edition when I no longer need the big (grey!) estate car!

IHaveBrilloHair · 09/05/2019 07:10

Mine's actually a motability car and I'm so looking forward to choosing my new one next year, I want a different colour and more gadgets! (That is the full extent of my car knowledge)

IJustLostTheGame · 09/05/2019 09:12

Anything convertible

ComtesseDeSpair · 09/05/2019 09:30

Agree with @StillMedusa, the Smart Roadster is stupid good fun. Not hugely fast in terms of top speed but because it’s so light it’s very nippy and throws itself around corners.

I currently have a Lotus Elise. Love it to pieces. Can be pricey, but ones if the age mine is don’t lose value so you’ll always sell it on again for more or less what you bought it for.

LeekMunchingSheepShagger · 09/05/2019 09:34

I want an Audi TT ( well actually I want a DB9 but let's inject some realism) but I've got about 10 years to wait I guess.

khaleesi71 · 09/05/2019 09:43

I've just brought a fun car - Audi TT and I love it. Was warned off the automatic by the dealer though - probe to problems apparently. Anyway - I also tested a Mini Cooper s (fun but squeaky) and an SLK - gorgeous and well spec'd but worn for age. Deported on the Audi - solid, handles well and sounds great! Only problem is DH suddenly thinking of reasons to go to Sainsbury's!
