I'd take this as a sign they won't be seeking a Royal title for him (as it's an informal name).

It's very common (in the sense of popular rather than not posh) but quite a nice name.

To be honest I think Archie is such a boring name.

To me it feels like a name you choose when you can't think of anything else.

It's cute! I like the fact that they've gone against all the expected tiresome pompous old family names. Agree they could have gone one further with Archive / Balonz etc for the full effect though :o
