If you're mid-late forties / early fifties, do you have much joint pain?

I'm just wondering how common this is, it's often mentioned as an issue when peri/menopausal. I'm late 40s and my mum had rheumatoid arthritis, so I'm maybe more concerned about joint pain.

Only a soreish knee when climbing up and down stairs. Had it a couple of years. I'm late 40's.

I rang the Drs today. They made me go immediately (due to diabetes) despite me having this pain & swelling for months. The Dr wanted to know why they’d slotted me in an emergency apt. & was pretty dismissive, barely looked at me. He’s given me a form to go for an X-ray, but only on my knee not my ankle & hip ‘let’s just focus on the worst but’. Yes. Couldn’t possibly focus on the whole leg, yes, you know, the joined up bits that hurt. Or blood tests incase it’s an infection or worse. He said to see the in-house orthopaedic consultant. Next available appointment is in...July 🙄.

I can’t get an apt with my Dr for 3 weeks, so I’m going to start taking the vitamins now. I wanted to get the tests done before I started taking them, but I don’t want to wait another 3 weeks.

I should have been more assertive really but was wrong footed by having to go immediately then him being so dismissive.

Whole leg hurts a lot today.

QueenOfTheEighthKingdom Yes, there is some research on turmeric for joint health support. Here is some research: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5036591/

A reduction in the amount of oestrogen levels also contributes to aches and pain as we get into our forties and fifties.

45, no pain. I feel fit and strong.

I Practice yoga every day. Without this I would feel stiff.

I also train with weights (HIIT) 6 days a week for 25 mins
Eat a mostly plant based diet but add some fat in the form of cheese or greek yog
Have a nutribullet every day with organic leafy greens to this I add turmeric, black pepper, ground flaxseed, spirulina, cacao
Take the following supplements, magnesium, starflower oil and Hair Burst, which is like a multi vit but has added ingredients for good hair and skin

Yes, but then as a very young child I had Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. It came back in my 30's and is my constant companion now! Used to only strike in hot weather believe it or not but one Christmas I had it bad and now it does not matter what the weather is like!

No I dt haven't AI
A few months ago I started with pain down the side of my small finger and I thought that was thecm start of arthritis and learned to live with it and the other day I noticed the pain had gone.

I'm 52 and have a very painful shoulder, annoying neck stiffness, an uncomfortable trigger finger and, recently, some hip twinges. However, they were much, much worse before I started a weight loss and fitness regime 2 years ago.

Yes, there is some research on turmeric for joint health support. One thing to be aware of is that not all turmeric is equal. There are challenges absorbing turmeric in the body, and a form that is hydro-soluble absorbs better.

Theghosttrain · 10/05/2019 22:02

I take turmeric (with 95% curcuminoids) and boswellia. They have made a difference.

No, I’m 67 not since I upped my intake of minerals..particularly magnesium
