He was supposed to be saying something about the royal birthday but couldn't put a sentence together. He said excuse me while I gather my thoughts, then he had to just hand back to the studio.

Surely he cant be that overcome with emotion about the new baby? It made me wonder if something was wrong with him. Bit worrying.

DH said he looked tired, and he’s knocking on a bit. Hopefully he’s ok after a good nights sleep.

Was very strange. He couldn't think what he wanted to say at all.
I don't like him but I hope he's not unwell.

To be honest there’s only so much you can talk about it, isn’t there? Not much news beyond “it’s a boy” so far.

A bit like at live events when they’re waiting for speeches or things to start and forced to discuss carpet colours or something to fill time

I suspect he is unwell. He is far too experienced for it to have been a case of failed auto cue.

Just a momentary lapse, given that he was ad-libbing perfectly well until that point. Lost his train of thought and sensibly handed back.

Hope he hasn't had a stroke.

Most all news reporters anchors etc will have in-ear talkback where they get told what to do or commuicated at by the vision or prog director it may well be that had screwed up theres been a lot of this teccy problem stuff on the go recewntly !
