What just happened with Nicholas Witchell on BBC news?

He was supposed to be saying something about the royal birthday but couldn't put a sentence together. He said excuse me while I gather my thoughts, then he had to just hand back to the studio.

Surely he cant be that overcome with emotion about the new baby? It made me wonder if something was wrong with him. Bit worrying.

That is hysterical. Have all the different ethnicities and drag them out to report only on their own
Can we do the same with sex and disability. So only a wheelchair user can talk about another wheelchair user. We could have someone on sticks, another on crutches
A broken leg?
Only over 60s are allowed to report on over 60s
Oh we could have some fun with this

Editor of BBC News at 10 has tweeted:

"For those asking about Nick Witchell - he’s absolutely fine. Highly unusually for Nick he lost his train of thought on the #BBCNewsTen and decided to hand back to the studio. This can happen sometimes even to the most experienced and respected in busy live news broadcasting."

Yes, he was making a mental link between Africa visits and the baby's ethnic heritage, and was screamed at

It's made me realise what a difficult job that must be. Reading off an autocue in a studio wouldn't be as bad, but no way could I ad lib into a camera.
