Has anyone done a sinus rinse before?

And is it horrific?!

I've got various allergies and asthma and while waiting for an appt with allergy specialists (because we still don't actually know what it is I'm allergic to) my asthma nurse has got me trying lots of different things. She got all excited when I said the nasal spray I'd been using had worked well and said 'ooh I've got something fun for you to try then' and gave me a sinus rinse and a load of sachets.

I stupidly watched a few YouTube videos of people doing it and someone said she felt like she was drowning! She did seem a bit dramatic in general though.

I'm desperate to get on top of this, and I really want to try it but I'll be the first to admit I'm a bit of a wimp!

I use the Neilmed bottle when I'm feeling sinusy, have done it for years and like using it. I don't ever get stuff coming out other than what went in, but I sometimes feel it going down the back of my throat. Would like stuff to come out with rinsing! The only advice I can give is after doing it, put your head down, one side and then the other to get last bits out. Otherwise I have had water come out of my nose when I go to bed!

Just thought I'd come back to this to say I went to the allergy clinic today for skin prick testing. Turns out I'm allergic to 15 different things Confused but the lovely allergy nurse shared the secret recipe for a neilmed bottle so you don't have to keep buying the sachets.
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp bicarb of soda
240ml boiled water

That's it basically, the bicarb makes it less harsh on your nose than plain salt Grin
