Has anyone done a 10 day water fast?

Not a thread created for the tearing down of the practice.

Just wondering if anyone has actually done one?

Sounds very dangerous, why would you do that?

FiremanKing · 06/05/2019 18:33

dontwastethecrumbs.com/2013/02/10-day-water-fast/

Personally I would die as I hate water and never drink it in its own.

tanpestryfirescreen · 06/05/2019 18:33

Maybe an insensitive time to be suggesting this?

wigglypiggly · 06/05/2019 18:34

this would make you ill, I wouldn't recommend it, if it were in hospital the staff would be acccused of neglect and starvation.

FiremanKing · 06/05/2019 18:35

It’s very extreme.

Could you not do one day a week and see how that goes?

SherlocksDeerstalker · 06/05/2019 18:39

What an actual load of bolleaux. The above link appears to suggest not eating food cures cancer. Disordered eating at its finest... Hmm

Roaring30s · 06/05/2019 18:45

Tan insensitive why Confused

Fireman that was the article that made me consider it.

Funny how I specified I didn't start this thread to be told not ot but to find people that had and that was completely ignored.

I'll just wait for the cries of 'it's a public forum! We can type what we want!'

I think tan is referring to Ramadan, which I think started today.

Karmin · 06/05/2019 18:48

I am curious as to why?

Karmin · 06/05/2019 18:50

Might be worth exploring www.mumsnet.com/Talk/fasting_diet

PaperHead · 06/05/2019 18:51

Roaring, you don’t get to set the rules of the forum, or indeed the internet. People get to tell you something is a deeply dumb idea, even if you don’t like it.

Roaring30s · 06/05/2019 18:51

I didn't know it was ramadan and why would it be insensitive to ask about fasting whilst people are fasting Hmm

Roaring30s · 06/05/2019 18:52

Paper gets 1st place.

Oh I didn't realise there was a specific section.

Thank you :)

Aron Ralston? He lost some weight too.

Roaring30s · 06/05/2019 18:57

As much as I want to lose weight I draw the line at having an arm off ;)

Nuts.

I was nil by mouth for 24 hours in hospital recently due to delayed surgery and I ended up on a glucose drip because my blood sugar and blood pressure had dropped dangerously low.

Speak to your doctor before you start this.

+1 to PaperHead

FiremanKing · 06/05/2019 18:57

Ramadan is a personal choice and absolutely has no bearing on the op’s post.

I still don’t think that water fasting for ten days is a good idea though, but to bring Ramadan into it is Hmm

I believe there are benefits to fasting for one or two days but any longer I personally don’t think is a good idea.

I think if you are a celebrity or person who can be a person of leisure then you could sustain it but the average person could be at risk of fainting etc whilst going about their normal business.

titsbumfannythelot · 06/05/2019 19:32

I may be wrong, tan may be referring to something else entirely. Regardless, apologies for any offence caused. I certainly wasn't suggesting that this should have any bearing on OP's research.
