My hubby and I have a week off on June and would like to take our 2yr old DS for a break in the UK. Does anyone have any recommendations or preferences between Butlins and centreparcs? Any suggestions much appreciated Smile

Centerparcs every day of the week

IggyAce · 06/05/2019 18:06

If your lo is into characters and likes shows and doesn’t mind fairground rides and the beach then Butlins. If they are happy with a swimming pool and nature walks and a nice selection of restaurants then centerparcs.

hidinginthenightgarden · 06/05/2019 18:08

I’d say Butlin’s.
Much better value for money!

MamaRaisingBoys · 06/05/2019 18:10

Butlins at that age, in one of the nicer rooms though! Seaside apartments and villas are nice. So much more for your money than cp at that age

AlbusPercival · 06/05/2019 18:10

Currently at Butlins with a 2 year old, better for him than Center parcs.

I prefer Center parcs

But if he’s happy then I get a holiday too

Kez200 · 06/05/2019 18:11

The price will be sooooo different. If it doesnt matter CP every day.

Blackandpurple · 06/05/2019 18:11

Center Parcs. Hands down.

Boyskeepswinging · 06/05/2019 18:13

Butlins for a 2 year old. If you want a "nicer" experience stay in one of the hotels at Bognor. They are lovely.

blue55 · 06/05/2019 18:13

Centre Parcs!

Have been many times and really enjoyed it.

Booked a Butlins break once, we managed to stay for all of 3.5 hours before heading home. It was just dismal.

Yogagirl123 · 06/05/2019 18:13

Depends on budget, Butlins is more affordable and geared to toddlers, CP much more expensive, pool based etc. Soft play in restaurants, smarter accommodation etc. Have a fab holiday, wherever you choose.

Thesunrising · 06/05/2019 18:15

Center Parcs are not great for two year olds. Butlins have more free playgrounds, fairground rides and access to beach obvs. Better for your 2 year old and prob cheaper for you.

TickleMyPickle · 06/05/2019 18:19

Went to Butlins in gold accommodation until ours were school age when we switched to CP. Butlins is outstanding for pre school age kids, mine are now 11&12 and still talk so fondly of our holidays there.

definitelyshouldknowbetter · 06/05/2019 18:19

We’ve done both, if you can go out in term time I would choose center oarcs every time, swimming for as long as you want, loads of outdoor play areas and lovely walk to go on, plenty of wildlife. The one at Penrith does a big soft play area for toddlers during term time. Choice of places to eat is better and the accommodation is much nicer. Sadly now DS is in school the days of a cheapish mid week break have goneSad

NameChangedNoImagination · 06/05/2019 18:21

I like them both. Butlins probably better for toddler. CP probably better for you. Can you send him on his own Grin

MyDcAreMarvel · 06/05/2019 18:24

Butlins much better for young child.

MyDcAreMarvel · 06/05/2019 18:25

But go to Skegness, Bognor is grim only the hotel is nice not the resort.

Itstartedinbarcelona · 06/05/2019 18:29

Center Parcs every time. More expensive, but cheaper if you can go out of school holidays. Loads of free stuff to do for toddlers - play parks, soft play and swimming. If you minimise meals out and cook it’s a lot cheaper too.

Racheyg · 06/05/2019 18:33

Center Parcs doesn't have much for a 2 year old. Although the swimming pool is great.

I would say butlins

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 06/05/2019 18:35

Centre Parcs without a doubt.

WreckTangled · 06/05/2019 18:35

Butlins in Bognor is a dive. We went yesterday (special charity day so £4 each entry). It was worth that for the pool but otherwise it's really not great. Definitely can't imagine spending more than a short day there.

Ricekrispie22 · 06/05/2019 18:39

They are both good but in different ways and we have found things to entertain us at both without spending too much extra. It depends what you like - Butlins is lots of people, lots of shows with lights, loud music etc etc. They have fairground rides, outdoor play, soft play and arcades (they provided steps for the 2p machines). Then there's the entertainment, Billy & Bonnie Bears, Skyline Gang, puppet shows and Teletubbies. They had messy play and a room full of Little Tikes cars and climbing frames.
Centre Parcs is more outside walking, playing in the play areas, swimming, feeding the ducks, bike rides etc. If you are swimming pool crazy then go to CP. Swimming is free there and we would spend 5 hours ish a day in the pool there (take a picnic in with you, or buy food poolside). Sherwood is my favourite but we haven't done Woburn yet, which looks like it might be better.
Our kids have loved both although I find CP a more relaxing holiday due to the slower nature of the place but my SIL prefers Butlins so I guess it depends on what you want. I'd say Haven is halfway between Butlins and CP. It costs less than CP and it's not as loud as Butlins. If you get a nice caravan it's good and there's lots for children to do. I'd look at trip advisor for butlins reviews.

babbit87 · 06/05/2019 18:46

Can’t say about Butlins but went to CP when ours was 7 months and am booked to go again when she’ll be 2 and expectant child will be 6 months. Lovely nature walks, a small “beach” on the lake, little play areas, excellent splash pool which is actually lovely and warm for a change! I can’t rate it highly enough. Actually booked to go in Nov and am planning another trip in April 2020 (am teacher so need to take advantage of mat leave as going in school holidays is too expensive) as long as you self cater most meals maybe get the odd coffee out (which with LOs I think is actually preferable) it didn’t work out that expensive £100 per adult for mon-fri - choose your weeks wisely!!

tiredem · 06/05/2019 18:47

Thank you for this as we were considering bognor!! Thank u all for your replies.. really helpful Smile

Even better if you get the grandparents to with you - they had our DD whilst we went to the spa - bliss!!!

stillworkingitout · 06/05/2019 19:09

Not sure why people say CP is not good for a 2yo ... I’ve been when mine were 2.5 and 8 months and more recently at 4.5 and 2.5 and we had a great time both times. Lots of swimming. Lots of time in the play parks. Bike riding and being outdoors. It’s quite pricey but really great for family fun!
