our monthly water bills going up! so decided to stripwash instead of shower daily, but I use the shower for hair wash days (2- 3 times a week). Well just used the sink, feel lovely and clean. But I did seem to get a bit of water on the floor!

So tell me stripwashers how do ya do it!

Stand on a mat and practice leaning on the sink for the upper areas

Please please please don’t lean on your sink. I almost amputated my arm leaning on a bathroom sink. Beware of any hairline cracks and if there are any never lean on it. Just don’t want anyone to get injured!

@mycatismeowican no, I jump in one of their baths of hot water after they have been in in the morning

I know people who wash one child and then the next child is washed in the same bath water. That always seems a bit grim to me

I have a strip wash in the mornings because basically I grew up in the early 80s and my parents brought us up to do that in the mornings, partly because we had a boiler system where 2 people couldn't use our showers at the same time without the water going cold (and I definitely preferred washing at the sink with warm water as opposed to a cold shower), and partly because they literally grew up in the 50s when it was the norm.

I do have a shower though after my daily evening run. I tend to shower for about 5 minutes so I reckon there is probably no massive difference in water use between that and strip washing, however, I prefer to strip wash in the morning because then I focus on just underarms and undercarriage because I know I'll be showering later and I don't want dry skin from doing a full body wash twice a day. I wouldn't usually do a full body wash twice a day, but I have to wash immediately in the morning or I feel awful, and I do long distance running using non-chemical deodorants in the evenings (like most of us these days, and they don't really work like the chemical stuff tbh), so yeah, a shower is needed instantly afterwards.

I don't think it's any cleaner to shower than strip wash though tbh if you are scrubbing your whole body with soap and then rinsing it afterwards, I don't think it's any different, it's just people's perception that it isn't clean (and also quite a few people who strip wash clearly don't care to do a good job; you can definitely strip wash badly whereas that's pretty much impossible in a shower). A strip wash is more of a bother too and definitely something that nobody under 40 does I would think, and I only do it when I just don't want to intensively wash things like my arms and legs only hours after I just showered them and all I've done is sleep in a cold room.

Large bath towell doubled on the floor to stand on and lots of damp (not soaking) flannels. Plus a full "Bed & Bath" was in the machine twice a week.

Just have a quick shower? I can wash my hair and body and be in and out in less than five minutes. I only ever strip wash if I'm wild camping and my god it's a faff. It takes longer than a shower.

Baths is cheaper than a shower

On the occasions I've strip washed, I don't fill the sink up I rinse a wash cloth and do my face, do the rest of me and just rinse wash cloth when necessary. No splashing everywhere.
