Dh and dd1 eat the crust, but I don't. Then again, i give them to the dog so no waste

ReganSomerset · 05/05/2019 09:42

Yes, unless it's the only slice left in the bag and I'm unsure of how long it's been there for.

Processedpea · 05/05/2019 09:43

No because I don't like them so don't see the point in eating the extra calories

pumpkinpie01 · 05/05/2019 09:43

I put them in the freezer then we always have bread for feeding the ducks

EleanorReally · 05/05/2019 09:43

Yout aren't supposed to feed bread to the ducks, it's not good for them

brainstormer123 · 05/05/2019 09:44

Yes yes yes it's the only bit I eat, I love it and feel sad for all the unwanted crusts thrown away lol

dementedpixie · 05/05/2019 09:44

Do you mean the end slices (doorstops) rather than the crusts that are round each slice? They are nice toasted with butter and jam

Reddedder · 05/05/2019 09:44

Always. It’s the best bit especially on a Scottish plain loaf

Processedpea · 05/05/2019 09:45

You can feed it to the ducks now

EleanorReally · 05/05/2019 09:45

yes the end bits

Yes we all like them. Do you ever use breadcrumbs in cooking? You cook save them for that

user1474894224 · 05/05/2019 09:46

Yes. I hate waste. They are normally toasted. Or frozen and ground into breadcrumbs then left in freezer for ages because who really cooks with breadcrumbs.

KneelJustKneel · 05/05/2019 09:46

No, noone likes them here.

If I'm whizzing bread for topping a pasta bake or similar I'll use a crust though to use it up. But we dont do that every 2 days!

HerSymphonyAndSong · 05/05/2019 09:46

*could

Yes, please don't feed bread to ducks, or any other bird, it's really bad for them. Here is some stuff you can safely feed them canalrivertrust.org.uk/enjoy-the-waterways/canal-and-river-wildlife/keeping-our-ducks-healthy/six-things-you-didnt-know-you-could-feed-ducks

Passthecake30 · 05/05/2019 09:48

I spread mine with garlic butter and bake in the oven, cheap garlic bread!

No, don't feed them bread. You can feed them oats, corn and peas though.

KneelJustKneel · 05/05/2019 09:48

Ha tripple post!
We use as breadcrumbs but realistically that's as and when needed as we only use a slice or two maybe once a fortnight!

I dont belive most people would use breadcrumbs in cook8ng at the same rate as getting through a loaf of bread.

ThePerturbedPenguin · 05/05/2019 09:48

@pumpkinpie01 It’s actually a bad idea to feed ducks bread, I found out a few years ago!

i dont even feed it to the birds, due to rats Sad
i will get out the food processor and whizz up some bags of bread crumbs for toppings

Yes more importantly wasn’t there a debate on here on what the end bits were called? A lot of people commented that the crusts was just the bit round the edges on every slice Confused

dementedpixie · 05/05/2019 09:51

That's what I regard crusts as. The end slices aren't crusts (to me)

KneelJustKneel · 05/05/2019 09:59

Theres regional variation - they're crusts here in my bit of the south of england but it really does vary.

Same for what I'd call a roll - barm cakes and all sorts of other names everywhere else!
