STUPID COURIER!

Hsaansnsn6776 · 04/05/2019 16:20

Ordered a beautiful window from eBay... not cheap! And the courier came earlier than expected and told them to leave it by the house... I didn’t have time to put it away yet and I went outside to find it on the floor and it’s smashed Sad who’s fault is this and what can I do to get money from down the drain (metaphor)

Surely if it had been left with a neighbour, it would be in their house/porch/garage and not somewhere outside for it be blown over by the wind?!

You clearly just want to blame the courier, so best of luck in getting a refund when the damage was your responsibility

MacrosomicMumma · 04/05/2019 17:34

Another poster that gets told the same thing over and over but it's everyone else that's just not getting it....

And yes, you could have secured it. You could have also laid it flat and kept the dogs in. Simple.

Once delivered it's your responsibility. It broke on your watch. Time to accept that (although I'm guessing you won't based on the fact everyone has pretty much said the same and you are still arguing it's not your fault)......

Hsaansnsn6776 · 04/05/2019 17:34

Well not necessarily because what if it had been knocked over in the house! People leave windows open!

OP posts:
Hsaansnsn6776 · 04/05/2019 17:35

So leave the dogs in for 8 hours? Um yes. Totally realistic mumma

OP posts:
LIZS · 04/05/2019 17:35

So dh was in when it was delivered?

SammySamSam09 · 04/05/2019 17:37

You are arguing with the wrong people op. It's not them you've got to convince, it's the courier.
So I suggest instead of wasting your time trying to get this lot to understand your beef you actually call the courier and complain to them.

Hsaansnsn6776 · 04/05/2019 17:37

In but out.... we have land an was doing jobs in there!

OP posts:
LIZS · 04/05/2019 17:38

If the courier rang you you should have their number. If a courier could move it then presumably either one of you could.

HelpAFattieOutHere · 04/05/2019 17:39

Fattie... he can’t move it alone either

Is the courier a contender for Britain's Strongest Man then?

InMyBloodstainedSundaysBest · 04/05/2019 17:39

Why are you continuing to argue? Most people have told you that they disagree with you. You're clearly not going to change your mind. Get over it.

As an aside, I think the only "unnecessarily aggressive" replies here have been from you.

LarryGreysonsDoor · 04/05/2019 17:41

The problem is that you will have a hard time proving it.

The courier might say it was were you asked them to leave it, how can you prove otherwise?

redhotchill · 04/05/2019 17:43

It's your fault.

TwitterQueen1 · 04/05/2019 17:44

This is highly entertaining OP Grin.
You've seen off poor Maxi with your aggressive rudeness and seem incapable of understanding that:
It's irrelevant that you forgot about it
The fact that it was too heavy to move by yourself is irrelevant
You saw it and did nothing to it or with it. Couldn't you have simply lain it down flat?
You told the courier to leave it.

Bottom line is that the courier left it, as instructed. Responsibility then passed to you. It broke.
Couriers are paid to deliver, not wonder about all the ifs and buts of wondering what might happen if XYZ....

HelpAFattieOutHere · 04/05/2019 17:45

Plus all the couriers who deliver to me at work now have to take a photo of where they have left said parcel, so I'd think carefully before trying to complain about something that isn't the courier's fault.

EngagedAgain · 04/05/2019 17:45

Sadly I think you will just have to suck this one up. We all make costly mistakes at some point, usually more than once. I don't think you're likely to get anywhere with this. How much was it? Sorry not rtft.

KMoKMo · 04/05/2019 17:46

Is it a door or window?
How was it left so it could blow over?

acomingin · 04/05/2019 17:46

Loads of people are telling you it's your fault. Just accept it and stop arguing.

MsSquiz · 04/05/2019 17:46

Then I believe if it's broken in a neighbour's house it would be their responsibility as they had chosen to take it in.

That is what accepting a parcel is, responsibility. You accepted for it to be left outside, on your property, it is your responsibility!

You are arguing with everyone because we are all saying it is down to you.

Even if it was broken when the courier delivered it, you can't prove that because you accepted for it to be left without checking it!

so in case we aren't all making ourselves clear:

IT'S YOUR FAULT!

TheCanterburyWhales · 04/05/2019 17:46

You saw it?
He was in when it was delivered?

And somehow it's the courier's fault?

'kay.

PS I think most of us have understood the situation perfectly. I'm also still a tad confused how your OP left so much seemingly vital info out. One might almost think you were dripfeeding to swing opinion.

jimmychoux · 04/05/2019 17:48

Couriers in my area have started taking photos of parcels left.

TheCanterburyWhales · 04/05/2019 18:07

I'm not surprised. They must get sick to the back teeth of CFery.

DogHairEverywhere · 04/05/2019 18:10

I can sort of see where you're coming from, e.g. if i told a courier to leave a parcel in my back porch (fairly secluded), but they decide to leave parcel in the front porch (open to all to see/take).
If i got home and there was no parcel ('cos someone took it), i think I'd have a right to complain. But if i came home, saw it there, in the front porch, and chose to ignore it for a while (for whatever reason), then it got stolen, then no, i don't think i could in all honesty complain to the courier. After all, they delivered it safely, albeit to the wrong place, but at the point you saw it, it did really become your responsibility. Annoying, but not really the couriers fault. I think if i couldn't move it, i would have found a way to secure it or lay it flat and take the dogs out on leads.

gamerchick · 04/05/2019 18:34

Most do, which is probably what this one did as well.

But I really want the OP to try claiming and report back Grin

EjectorCrab · 04/05/2019 18:41

So because some seem to be unable to understand it

You’re hilarious OP. So many of us have struggled to understand your original posts, and this is because you didn’t make much sense. I love that you’re blaming us for not following in the same way you’re blaming the courier for your smashed window.

SoupDragon · 04/05/2019 18:48

The courier delivered it to a safe location in one piece.

You saw it in one piece.

It's your fault.
