Has anyone else never burped?!
I guess it seems odd when I think about it but have only ever "burped" at the start of throwing up.. never just as a normal routine daily thing (not even a silent one).

Is that weird/normal? Any health implications?

I never burped ever until I got pregnant at 26, I can still burp now after having my DS.

Nothing used to make me burp either like fizzy drinks. Now I can have water and burp it's very weird and wonder why my self

Me neither, if I have trapped wind I have to make myself retch... I am a terrific farter though so maybe it escapes that way.

I don't burp either, only as a precursor to vomiting. About 3 times in my life I have burped spontaneously and panicked thinking I was about to be sick. I'm 52. I had a lot of throaty growls when heavily pregnant but never burped. I don't drink fizzy drinks quickly as I have no pressure release valve as such.

Yes, as per Mammatino, the gas finds its way out!

Yes, I'm the same! Never burped, apart from when I'm sick. If I think I'm going to burp I panic I'm going to throw up, then nothing happens. I'm always slightly envious of people who so massive burps, looks satisfying.

Do you think we've got dodgy valves in our stomachs/throats or something?

Yes, me! I’ve spontaneously burped around 5 times in my life.

I was apparently a very colicky baby and I wonder whether it was because of my inability to burp.

Same!! Never burped! My little brothers (now mid twenties) still find it hilarious trying to make with various drink concoctions

I'm the same, burps mean I am about to be sick.

I took me until I was about 30! Pre that, I had to stick my fingers down my throat to release gas! (Specifically lager related gas) Happier now I can belch! (Quietly, obvs)

My mum can't burp, she just makes a little whoosh sound and then says "Ooh excuse me!"

I never used to be able to burp, I’d have to make myself retch to do it if I had really uncomfortable gas.

I learned a few years ago in my late 20s and can burp a bit better now, but it’s still not a daily occurrence. Maybe once or twice a week.

My aunt claims she can't but also reckoned she doesn't fart either. Newsflash! She does - old lady trumps!

I can’t burp either,I make up for it with farts! I wish I could, I get the feeling of needing to burp but it never comes up. Many have tried and failed to teach me.

I've never burped. Often wish I could - thank goodness for gaviscon!! When I was small I used to say my sister stole my burps. She has absolutely no problem releasing gas and often used to taunt me by burping the alphabet.

I'm another non-burper. I have the most awful gurgly stomach though, which can be very embarrassing in quiet bits of a film or play.

Me neither!! I only burp if I'm going to be sick. Very occasionally I do a weird little hiss/squeak of air escaping. Definitely make up for it the other end.

Oh god, I feel bad for you. There’s nothing more satisfying than rolling over in bed onto my tummy to settle down to sleep and just having a big satisfying burp, and then snuggling my face into the pillow and nodding straight off.

I thought it only happened to me, one day mentioned it to fairly new dp who said it had never happened to him before, lo and behold, he now does rolly over sleepy burps too.
