Neighbour planted 3 new bushes/trees in my garden!

Came home to find 3 newly planted trees in what is quite clearly my garden as it is my side of the fence!
Am I in my right to pull them out? I don't really want them where they are. Beside the fact that they could've at least asked for permission!!!

Is that not some kind of thorny hedge?

Those aren't trees. They're shrubs. Prickly ones!

Disfordarkchocolate · 02/05/2019 19:49

They'll look lovely in your neighbours garden, a nice bit of extra colour.

KirstyJC · 02/05/2019 19:53

Isn't it naked gardening day this weekend.....?!

Maybe you could go out and remove the bushes and walk around to them to give them back to your neighbours. Totally naked of course. Ask them if they want you to prune their bush whilst you are there and hold up a large pair of loppers......

Bet they don't try it again!

Totaldogsbody · 02/05/2019 19:53

Yeah had to look it up. They have loads of berries apparently but lots of thorns too.

Chloemol · 02/05/2019 19:56

Get the Gardner back to remove them and ask the neighbours where hey want them planting in their garden. Trees can cause all sorts of issues as they grow

MrsBertBibby · 02/05/2019 19:57

Oooh pyracantha. That's war!

LindaLa · 02/05/2019 20:05

Why are you still employing the gardener?
He has proved untrustworthy.
If he does work in your garden at your neighbours say so, then he gets paid by them.

When you phoned him, was he apologetic?
Has he come straight over to rectify what he has done?

He is taking the piss out of you.

Him and your neighbours are laughing at you.

Level75 · 02/05/2019 20:10

Pyracantha grow massive. I battle mine each year. VCFs!

OnlyRealButterWillDo · 02/05/2019 20:39

This with bells on.

Fire him/her.

Madness. Get the gardener to dig them out and return them to wherever they came from.

FiremanKing · 02/05/2019 20:43

I hate pyrocantha.

Lovely berries for the birds but they are a spider magnet.

WhatchaMaCalllit · 02/05/2019 20:52

Just a quick internet search has shown that they were planted in the wrong season and they should be planted about 5-10 feet apart and this is coming from the RHS.

I'd contact the gardener, get them to dig up the Pyrocantha and deliver them back to the neighbours. If they don't like being able to see through trellis, they can plant whatever they want (within reason) on their side of the fence. CF to even consider planting something in someone elses garden. It's absolutely crazy to think that they instructed the gardener to do this and even more so that the gardener actually went through with it.

sackrifice · 02/05/2019 20:53

Pyrocantha?

They'd be in my brown bin within the hour.

What the fuck is going on? This cannot be true.

sackrifice · 02/05/2019 20:54

And sack your gardener.

Singlenotsingle · 02/05/2019 20:59

What on Earth possessed them to think that planting their trees in your garden was acceptable? Crazy people. Pyrocantha are quite pretty to look at and not too high, but did the gardener just make a mistake? Did he misinterpret the instructions?

captainpantbeard · 02/05/2019 21:14

Why the fuck would the gardener plant trees in YOUR garden on THEIR instructions??

Make sure he takes them out and returns them to the neighbours. Don’t let them beat you down!

underneaththeash · 02/05/2019 21:18

just text neighbours and let them now the gardener has planted them in the wrong garden.

Bookworm4 · 02/05/2019 21:19

These grow to over 2m tall and cling to fences/walls, I dug these out, horrible things. Get them out and fling over the fence.

kbPOW · 02/05/2019 21:24

Yes that's what the brown bin's for. Sack the gardener.

LeNil · 02/05/2019 21:41

I have pyracantha in the garden. It’s pretty in the spring and the birds love it in the autumn and you can topiary it. BUT it’s invasive, grows very quickly and has horrible thorns, my hands have been ripped to shreds. We have a hedge of it and this winter it’s coming down. I’ll leave the topiaried one.

Grundtal · 02/05/2019 21:41

Gardener needs to put it right then needs firing.

Any gardener who thinks it is perfectly fine to plant something in a garden on the say so of someone they KNOW doesn't own said garden is not someone you should be employing.

Your neighbours are assholes, dont engage. If they hate the trellis gap they can fill it in THEIR side of the fence

li1972 · 02/05/2019 21:48

Thank the neighbours for their lovely gift, then ask the gardener to dig them up and pop them into container pots... thus meaning you can move them around the garden where you fancy AND they won't grow too big! Wink Then I'd move them to the END of the garden.
