Cannot believe what DH has done!

Only brought in the recycling bin BEFORE the bin men came! It was full to the brim and we have to wait another 2 weeks before it will be collected. Why is he so stupid? I am so angry.

I would be directing my irritation at inadequate bin collection services rather than your DH who made an honest mistake.

julensaor · 02/05/2019 09:04

That is really quite funny.

musicposy · 02/05/2019 09:04

DH's job is the bins. If he forgets I get him to take it to the tip. That usually prompts his memory for a while!
Don't get the bin men into trouble; that isn't fair.

RogueV · 02/05/2019 09:06

I would be annoyed too!

Beamur · 02/05/2019 09:06

What a berk.

Backseatonthebus · 02/05/2019 09:06

It's the sort of thing we'd laugh at, not sure why you're angry.

Mrsjayy · 02/05/2019 09:08

I don't think the inadequate bin service is to blame here the husband abset mindedly brought a full bin in how is that anybody elses fault

Topseyt · 02/05/2019 09:09

I would be annoyed. I'd make him put it into his own car (definitely NOT mine) and drive it to the tip, however smelly it was.

It shows a lack of thought. I usually bring the bins in here. I always check that it has been emptied first though, as they do occasionally miss the odd one and you report it to the local council.

WokenUp · 02/05/2019 09:10

My son did this with the black bin (the smelly household waste). He dragged it, heavy and stinky back to the house and we had to wait two weeks. Totally feel your pain OPAngry

Topseyt · 02/05/2019 09:13

Boggles, bin collections in most parts of the UK are fortnightly.

We alternate general rubbish one week and recycling the next. So each category gets collected once a fortnight. Normal.

pissedonatrain · 02/05/2019 09:15

Not a big deal at all.
People get distracted and make mistakes.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 02/05/2019 09:18

I’m anal. I’d find that extremely annoying, not funny.

HeidioftheAlps · 02/05/2019 09:23

I forgot to push the recycling out one time but found i could fit the next 2 weeks worth in too by squashing it down

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 02/05/2019 09:25

I just like getting rid of all the rubbish and starting afresh. I have calmed down now - sorry for making a fuss! I'm still annoyed at his lack of attention though!

We forgot to put out a bin last fortnight it is overflowing I hate not having empty bins it is so irrirating

GetOffTheTableMabel · 02/05/2019 09:32

I once thought our recycling collection had been missed and called the council. They had a note on file that the grey wheelie bin had been put out, not the green one. DH admitted to absentmindedly putting out the wrong one later. The nice lady from the council assured me that they keep a record of which addresses do not have bins out to protect staff from untrue accusations of missed collections.
I tried to get DH to take it to the tip but our recycling goes in a wheelie bin and is not sorted but, at the tip, they have separate areas for plastic, paper, glass etc so, he would have had to sort every single item in the wheelie bin to take it to the tip.

Charley50 · 02/05/2019 09:32

What a div.

Iwantacookie · 02/05/2019 09:33

Report it as missed they'll come back

Quartz2208 · 02/05/2019 09:34

I suspect this is about the fact that he decided to do something and did it badly and now cant accept he did it badly because he was only trying to help. Something which he does rarely and then when he does wants praise?

DontCallMeShitley · 02/05/2019 09:36

The same thing happened here but with the garden waste which was already soggy and starting to pong. It wasn't pleasant having it under the window for another 2 weeks.

Could you distribute your recycling among other bins, ask neighbours, use communal bins at supermarkets etc?

caughtinanet · 02/05/2019 09:37

is he an actual idiot?

even if it was the paper recycling how could he not know the container wasn't empty?

In my area there is absolulely no way the bin lorry would come back for one person's rubbish, and I'd hope they wouldn't, what a waste of council tax payers money

category12 · 02/05/2019 09:38

He's the idiot that did it, make him sort it out.

SoManyCoats · 02/05/2019 09:43

It's really not fair to report as missed, which suggests the bin men haven't done their job properly. Bin men do a great job in rain or shine and we'd be overrun with rats and disease if they weren't there to do their job. I respect bin men a lot (and street cleaners, sewage plant workers and anyone else whose job involves public cleaning of some sort, especially of the dirty smelly kind).

Your DH will have to get busy with the black bin bags and take it to the tip for recycling.

PuppyMonkey · 02/05/2019 09:46

I wouldn’t find it particularly funny either OP.

I’m guessing your DH has form for being useless.

SoupDragon · 02/05/2019 09:47

Just get him to take it to a local recycling centre.
