James Morrison just came on my Spotify playlist "the pieces don't fit anymore".

What a song! I feel like im re-living all my past breakups...

Jon Secada- just another day. I was desperate for my step dad to stay with my mum and this song summed up all those feelings. It still gets me now.

Squiff70 · 02/05/2019 00:25

Another vote for The Weakness in Me by Joan Armatrading.

Dance with My Father - Luther Vandross

Tracy Chapman - Broken (I sing along as it's a stunningly beautiful song but it crucifies me)

Annie Lennox - Dark Road

A recent one in the charts is Somebody you Loved by Lewis Capaldi. Chokes me and DP up every time it comes on the radio

Can give you a huge list in heartbreakers if you want 'em!

Squiff70 · 02/05/2019 00:28

Go rest high on that mountain by Vince Gill - absolute bawler

AGirlCalledJohnny · 02/05/2019 01:02

The River by Bruce Springsteen, the loneliness is heartbreaking.
Same Old Scene by Roxy Music
Will You by Hazel O’Conner (much teen angst was massaged by this lol)
Bunch of George Michael ones, Different Corner, Jesus to a Child, Careless Whisper
So many more. I love a good wallow Grin

Graphista · 02/05/2019 01:33

Agree with many of these - the ones that I know anyway.

As a huge George Michael fan took me a long time after his death to be able to listen to certain songs again. He was always such an emotive singer/writer.

Athlete - wires, even just writing it makes me cry. It's spot on about the experience of a sick baby. Dd was in scbu and very poorly after birth, horrible scary time.

Odd one

Christina Aguilera - fighter - it was on the radio a lot around the time of my divorce and felt apt. Ex put me through hell but I didn't want to give him the satisfaction of thinking he'd put me down so I used to play it on way to collecting dd from him to buoy me up

Don't give up - Peter Gabriel and Kate bush, my family are fucked up! I've been in very dark places and my friends are always there when I've asked them to be.

gluteustothemaximus · 02/05/2019 01:44

If you could see me now - The Script
Tears in Heaven - Clapton
Little Wonders - Rob Thomas
Remember Me - Disney coco film

ScarlettSahara · 02/05/2019 02:13

Sinead O Connor - Nothing Compares
Don Mc Lean - And I Love you so
- Empty Chairs

ScarlettSahara · 02/05/2019 02:14

Oh yes to Fix you too

UAEMum · 02/05/2019 02:52

Slipping through my fingers by Abba

VetinarisTerrier · 02/05/2019 03:47

Saw the title and immediately thought of Eric Clapton's Tears in Heaven as the saddest song ever. Absolutely heartbreaking.

Others for me are:
Dreams of Satin by Colin James
Demons by Imagine Dragons
both are gorgeous songs

tesla1970 · 02/05/2019 04:09

Bright Eyes from Watership Down
