I Get Along Without You Very Well - especially Chet Baker's version.

Meandyouandyouandme · 02/05/2019 20:18

Mine have also been mentioned Sometimes it Snows in April - Prince, still find it hard to believe he’s not here and can’t listen to this or any of his sad songs.

This Women’s work - Kate Bush, I first noticed this song on a episode of Extras where Maggie is cleaning some floors, and it makes me think of Ashley Jensen who I absolutely loved in that and Ugly Betty, and the sadness she’s had.

She’s like the Wind - Patrick Swayze, loved Dirty Dancing, reminds me of being young and loved Patrick.

Time in a Bottle by Jim Croce. Heartbreaking.

Slomi · 02/05/2019 20:26

One Last Goodbye by Anathema. Sometimes when I am really missing a very dear person who passed away, I pour myself a drink, play the song and have a little cry to myself. 10 years since I lost them and the song still reminds me of that time as though it was yesterday.

"I know you didn't want to leave
Your heart yearned to stay
But the strength I always loved in you
Finally gave way"

Dance with my father and supermarket flowers....

DC3dilemma · 02/05/2019 20:41

Flowers in the Window by Travis -tears of happiness as to how my life has change since meeting DH (and having our 3DC).

I can’t stop welling up when I hear Spiegel Im Spiegel. No words, but just the most moving music. If you aren’t familiar with it, ask Alexa to play it now and you’ll see...makes me think of how beautiful the children were as babies, how fleeting all those special moments are etc...sob...

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 02/05/2019 20:48

Scorn not his simplicity

happypotamus · 02/05/2019 21:07

Nearly all songs by Frightened Rabbit. I only discovered this band this year, nearly a year too late as the songwriter and singer died last year. Recently when everything has been a bit shit I play some of their songs very loud and sob.
Also, Hurt by Johnny Cash and Into My Arms by Nick Cave

wanderings · 02/05/2019 21:37

The song "the place where the lost things go" in Mary Poppins Returns is a tear-jerker.

wanderings · 02/05/2019 21:39

@MollysLips Similar happened in my house when the Cat Carol was accidentally discovered!

lauryloo · 02/05/2019 21:54

Somebody else by the 1975

About that crap period where you don't want your ex but it kills you that they've moved on

Chachaslider · 02/05/2019 21:55

Lots here plus abba when all is said and done

PinotAndPlaydough · 02/05/2019 21:58

Baby mine by Bette Midler, made me weep as a child in during dumbo and now as a mum I just can’t listen to it at all.

All I ask by Adele, it was playing in the car after my grandmas funeral, even though it’s about a couple splitting up it now reminds me of her and of how absolutely broken my grandpa was at loosing her.

Golden slumbers by Elbow, I used to sing it during the night feeds and it just back happy memories of a time I’ll never get back.

Slipping through my fingers by ABBA just reminds me of how fast my kids are growing up I can’t watch mama Mia because of it!

Lou0390 · 02/05/2019 22:03

Carpenters- We've only just began

Here You Come Again - Dolly Parton

AgentCooper · 02/05/2019 22:12

Bridge Over Troubled Water, only when sung by Art Garfunkel. His voice is so pure and beautiful on that song.

Many, many songs by Leonard Cohen, but especially Night Comes On -
I went down to the place where I knew she lay waiting under the marble and the snow.
I said mother, I’m frightened, the thunder and the lightning, i’ll never come through this alone.
She said i’ll be with you, my shawl wrapped around you, my hand on your head when you go.’
It was one of the songs on my birth playlist.

And more recently the Go to Sleep song from Tee and Mo 😂

ConorMcGregorsChin · 02/05/2019 22:13

Alone by Heart. Played at my sister's funeral.

HerGrapeness · 02/05/2019 22:14

Dying - Hole

This Woman's Work - Kate Bush. Since they used it in The Handmaid's Tale, it just makes me well up every time I hear it.

ScatteredMama82 · 02/05/2019 22:16

The things my father said, by black stone cherry. Can’t hear it without crying (I lost me Dad 9 years ago)

TheKrakening3 · 02/05/2019 22:20

My four year old wants Puff the Magic Dragon on all the time in the car. Makes me cry every time!

ladybird69 · 02/05/2019 22:20

Martina Mcbride concrete angel (video is heartbreaking)
.
Off to YouTube some of others, I need a good cry. Is there any way to copy this list or could we save thread. ?

northdownmummy · 02/05/2019 22:22

7 shades of blue - Beth Neilsen-Chapman. The lyrics crush me every time. Doesn't help that my Dad, who's in perfect health has chosen this for his funeral

Vicliz24 · 02/05/2019 22:24

Damn I wish I was you lover - Sophie B Hawkins and Always the last to know - Del Amitri . Both remind me of a doomed relationship in the distant past

WitsEnding · 02/05/2019 22:31

Electric Dreams
Forever Autumn

Also the Last Post gets me every time.
