Want to go somewhere really nice

What do you mean by 'nice'? Does it need a Michelin star? Or are you happy to have lower quality food as long as the view is great? And what is 'waterside'? River? Sea? Lake?

BarbaraofSevillle · 29/04/2019 14:23

Some clue as to where you are and/or which county/general area would also be good.

For example, the Seafood Shack in Ullapool is supposed to be amazing, but it's a bit of a trek for most of us.

Honeypickle · 29/04/2019 14:45

The Waterside Inn in Bray. Right there in the title.

Lardlizard · 29/04/2019 14:46

Rick stein in Barnes by river Thames if you like fish and wanted a day in London?

MockerstheFeManist · 29/04/2019 14:59

Westbeach in Bournemouth, a lot more affordable than the gin joints of Sandbanks.

NecessaryOnABicycle · 29/04/2019 15:01

How about The River Cafe?

PeachQueen · 29/04/2019 15:05

The Hand & Flowers In Marlow? Not sure how close to water you want to be.

DontTouchMyCurls · 29/04/2019 15:47

So by UK, you actually mean London area... Hmm

No point suggesting Durham then, which is part of the UK last time I checked

Lardlizard · 29/04/2019 17:16

Don’t touch, Milton Keynes is not London but not that far, but within an hours drive you can reach a lot of places

Mockers I prefer chez Fred

Why did you say UK in your post, OP, if you really meant within an hour of where you are, wherever that is?

PotteringAlong · 29/04/2019 17:28

rileysfishshack.com

My husband loves restaurants next to rivers, so this is a great thread for me to bookmark - thanks for starting it, OP!

OhWifey · 29/04/2019 17:38

Lots in Cambridge

Mightywease · 29/04/2019 17:44

Roux at Skindles in Maidenhead (well Taplow really!)
Boulter's Lock, Maidenhead
Waterside Inn, Bray

QuantamBaby · 29/04/2019 17:47

Fifteen, Jamie Olivers restaurant near Newquay is fabulous

notatwork · 29/04/2019 17:49

We had a lovely sunday lunch at the Nags Head in Abingdon last year. Not Michelin star but a really nice pub in a pretty town on an island in the Thames!

Karwomannghia · 29/04/2019 17:50

Godolphin arms overlooking st michaels mount in marazion

JenniferJareau · 29/04/2019 17:54

I second The Waterside Inn in Bray. Amazing food and they even had a boat you could hire.

La Pont De La Tour by Tower Bridge is good if you can get a bridge view table.
