I am beyond gutted. My daughter is distraught. My beautiful boy. I miss him so much. I don't know why I'm posting really. I just want to talk about him.

Aquamarine1029 · 26/04/2019 20:13

I'm so sorry, op. The pain of losing our beloved pets is just awful. I've lost several over the many years and it never gets easier.

WhiskersPete · 26/04/2019 20:20

Oh it’s so hard. They are truly one of the family. What was his name?

MaisondeChats · 26/04/2019 20:21

He'd been with us 12 years but we don't know how old he was when he chose us. He had been living out in the alley way at the back of our house for a while and began coming in and pinching our cats' food. I tried to find if he had an owner, putting a collar on him with notes in a little barrel attached to it but no one got in touch so he became ours. He was my daughter's soul mate, he came when she was a baby and is the most patient, gentle cat I've ever known. He has let her pick him up, poke him, prod him when she was a toddler and has never so much as hissed at her. Whenever she was sad he was there with her. He was obviously an older cat now, so he must have been a few years old when he came to us.

Oh that awful. How long did you have him?

My cat was half human. Not really like a normal cat at all. Used to meow ‘hello’ when I came in from work.

Hope you ok Flowers

ChloeR81 · 26/04/2019 20:23

So sorry. It’s so hard when you lose a pet Flowers

We’ve lost 2 of our cats in the last 3 years and was awful and sad both times. It shows they were really loved though and that’s a lovely thing.

Downthecanal · 26/04/2019 20:24

Oh he sounds lovely!

Louise7777 · 26/04/2019 20:24

Aw I'm so sorry. I'm a huge cat lover and I'm so sorry. They are part of the family. What was his name? I'm sure he was clearly so very well loved and had a lovely life with you and your family x x x

MrsMozartMkII · 26/04/2019 20:27

I'm so sorry. Hugs to you and your daughter.

It sounds like he found his place with you.

MaisondeChats · 26/04/2019 20:30

He was Leo. He has been having dental issues for some time and the vet thought he had a big abscess so he went in for an operation today to flush it all out and see what was going on. What was going on was actually a really nasty tumour so I made the decision to put him to sleep on the operating table. The vet told me it would have only been palliative care anyway so it was really just delaying the inevitable. We would have been keeping him alive for us rather than for him.

I have 3 others. I adore them. I don't get baby broody, I just get cats instead!

So sorry OP love and hugs to you and your family 💐💐💐

AndSheWas85 · 26/04/2019 20:50

Although it was such a tough decision you made, it was the right one for him, you did it because you loved him so much.

Leo sounds like he had an absolutely fantastic loving live with you and your family.
Cry as much as you want and don't feel ashamed about doing so.💐

DramaAlpaca · 26/04/2019 20:52

.........

There's something missing in my home,
I feel it day and night,
I know it will take time and strength
before things feel quite right.

But just for now, I need to mourn,
My heart... it needs to mend.
Though some may say,
"It's just a pet,"
I know I've lost a friend.

You've brought such laughter to my home,
and richness to my days.
A constant friend through joy or loss
with gentle, loving ways.

Companion, friend, and confidante,
A friend I won't forget.
You'll live forever in my heart,
My sweet, forever pet.

Thank you so much. Your words have made me cry but been great comfort. DD is snuggled up watching a geeky movie with DH, I'm hiding out in the other room with wine.
