Wtf is this shit?

"87,866 Supporters
BBC to sack Chris Packham
As an employee of the BBC, Chris Packham should remain impartial and keep his views and beliefs to himself however, he is the face of many anti hunting campaigns and uses his celeb status as a platform to push his anti hunting agenda, he has made his goal to ban all kinds of hunting, and country sports and pursuits and I feel he is no longer fit to work for the BBC"

How about David Attenborough then? From this person's logic he should also be sacked Confused

You sound charming.

OnoAnotherNC · 27/04/2019 10:49

Taking a break from naive drivel about slaughtering animals, as someone else pointed out up the thread, farmers also produce food for vegans.

This is a photo of a field decimated by pigeons taken yesterday. If farmers aren't able to defend these crops they won't be the only ones starving and no amount of vegan smuggery will help.

And the village near me has just campaigned to have a farmer remove the bird scarer he had up,.so I'm not sure what they are supposed to do now.

Scrowy · 27/04/2019 10:53

It’s your job to grow my vegetables so stop moaning. You think I owe you something? We pay you, that’s how jobs work, I don’t owe you anything more than that you get my money not my respect.

I'll take it that's a no then on campaigning for higher food prices for the benefit of the environment?

Fazackerley · 27/04/2019 10:54

I'll take it that's a no then on campaigning for higher food prices for the benefit of the environment? ha ha

Not enough time to campaign between shovelling in cheap lentil burgers and 50p loaves of bread.

Emma8707 · 27/04/2019 11:04

I’d be more than happy to pay more money if it was better for the environment. I can afford it, I certainly don’t eat cheap lentil burgers.

I don't feel sorry for you having to 16 hours a day, I’m glad it’s hard for you, I wouldn’t want what you do for a living to be an easy job.

I’m also glad the vegan movement is booming and more people are taking action on animal farming destroying the world, one day there will be more people like you out of a job, so we can both be thankful for that, you can get a job that makes you happy! Yay!

taybert · 27/04/2019 11:10

My experience of hill sheep and beef farming is that it’s a lot more compatible with maintaining natural habitats than commercial crop farming.

A lot of people really just don’t give any thought to how their food is produced or where it comes from. It’s all well and good saying that agriculture has changed ecosystems but at the end of the day unless the population decreases massively then we need commercial farming to feed people. That can be done in a variety of ways that may be more or less sensitive to environmental concerns but there will always have to be manipulation of the natural environment which includes some degree of pest or predator control.

Fazackerley · 27/04/2019 11:13

I'm not a vegan, but I understand that vegans eat things that are grown in the ground like cereals and vegetables. Am I right? In which case pigeons are shot to ensure that these things grow. So, a) by eating things that are grown you are complicit in the death of wild birds and b) you might have a lot less quinoa of you don't let farmers manage wildlife sustainably.

I can't believe I am having to explain this to someone who is presumably a grown woman.

Emma8707 · 27/04/2019 11:18

Sorry but where did I say I lacked knowledge of how things were grown in the ground?

I don’t eat cereals and I grow my own vegetables, My families food is grown on my land and cooked in my kitchen. I don’t knowingly harm any animals in the making of my meals, so please don’t presume you know me.

I also feel the need to point out that the claims for “animal farming destroying the world” are mainly based on mass intensive beef farming involving rain forest clearance. That’s not the reality of farming in this country. It’s a nice idea to look at the figures and say if you switch animal farming for vegetable crops you reduce carbon emissions but it’s not realistic. You can’t grow soya and lentils on the hills of the Yorkshire dales where sheep and beef cows rome. We’d still need an awful lot of agriculture if everyone was vegan. I’d be interested to see how our food imports would change if the population needed to survive solely on non animal sources of protein.

Emma8707 · 27/04/2019 11:24

Derxa I’m glad you think so! You’re the exact kind of person I don’t want to get along or associate myself with Grin

derxa · 27/04/2019 11:24

Every time you grow something you're disturbing and killing wildlife.

Emma8707 · 27/04/2019 11:31

Haha ok, yes this happens a lot. A meat eater trying to make a vegetarian/vegan feel guilty in whatever means possible to make themselves feel better.

Yes sometimes when I walk on the pavement I might crush an insect too, but I certainly don’t mean to. Which is the same for growing my own food, I don’t try and hurt anything, but yes it might happen... at least I’m trying to do good.

Fazackerley · 27/04/2019 12:14

I don't feel in the slightest bit guilty about eating meat. I'm just gobsmacked at your brass necked hypocrisy and ignorance!

So you literally only eat vegetables grown in your garden? Never buy anything? Bullshit.

Emma8707 · 27/04/2019 12:23

I live off the grid so Its actually easier for my family to be self-sufficient and I enjoy it. It’s how I was raised and how I will raise my family whether they want to do that will be up to them.

I do wonder Why that bothers you so much? I don’t rely on anyone to do anything for me, that seems to offend you, perhaps you should calm down a little

llangennith · 27/04/2019 12:39

I signed the petition asking the BBC not to sack him. Apologies for sticking to the subject matterConfused

Carpetburns · 27/04/2019 12:43

Sack him!

PickwickThePlockingDodo · 27/04/2019 12:54

Yeah perhaps I would sympathise more with them if they actually cared about their sheep * *
iI never stop worrying about them.

You never stop worrying about them? But send lambs, bloody babies ffs off to slaughter before they've even had a life, ripping them apart from their poor mothers? Urgh disgusting 😡

Some Farmers (not all) are destroying the wildlife in this country. Own it.

Sack him!
Care to elaborate Carpet? 🙄

Emma8707 · 27/04/2019 13:01

PickwickThePlockingDodo ... yes!! finally someone who cares!!!!

derxa · 27/04/2019 13:04

You never stop worrying about them? But send lambs, bloody babies ffs off to slaughter before they've even had a life, ripping them apart from their poor mothers? Urgh disgusting You know nothing about lambs or sheep farming that is clear.

PickwickThePlockingDodo · 27/04/2019 13:37

I know Emma, after slaughtering thousands of animals, shooting birds and destroying wildlife habitats all over the country, they try to turn it back on you because you may have squashed a caterpillar when growing your own lettuces 😆

And the argument for their destruction? 'Oh you don't understand farming and the ways of the countryside' 🙄

justasking111 · 27/04/2019 13:43

The majority of vegans bumble quietly along enjoying their lifestyle. It is the professional objectors who give them a bad name. Those protesters wander the country objecting to different things weekly causing havoc to get headlines.

Warky · 27/04/2019 13:55

@ihatethecold
The BBC sack no one ever.

Clarkson

justasking111 · 27/04/2019 13:58

Chris Packham is self employed so how can he be sacked??
