What’s good in Iceland (supermarket!)?

Moving to a new house soon in an area that has an Iceland. New freezer to fill up Grin I work late sometimes so it’s handy to have quick dinner ideas. Just me and DP, no kids.

I like their red shrimp and some of their fish. My dad rates their frozen veg above other supermarkets. Dh and dds rate their chicken nuggets.

Also their ice cream is good for the price.

Stravapalava · 23/04/2019 20:35

I like their root vegetable fries and their little Viennetta type ice creams on sticks.

They often have Ben & Jerrys at really good prices.

I usually end up getting quite a bit in Iceland! More limited but obviously good for frozen stuff. (I then go to Lidl and Sainsburys for the rest.)

Ice creams and lollies are good. Brioche buns, tortillas, coleslaw. Fruit and veg is better than Lidl, cheaper than Sainsburys. Oh, and their cheese! The 5 strength one is the best, we love it. Cheap, too for cheese. Drinks are usually on special. Avoid the own brand fizzy ones!

They also do meals in a bag, we have those some times with their garlic bread when we're in a hurry. We like the creamy pasta and the chicken & prawn paella. Duck spring rolls are good, not so much the veg ones. I get most of my frozen veg in there too, and chips if we fancy those. And I've usually always got a bag of their frozen chicken in the freezer, just in case.

Oh, and we like their frozen pizzas. They're really cheap, too! The thin BBQ one is delicious, and DH loves the deep pan pepperoni.

Potato products (Waffles, hash browns chips etc), desserts, ice cream, pizzas and I agree that their frozen veg is better than that of asda and sainsburys.

Their bread beer collaboration with Tiny Rebel!

BluntAndToThePoint · 23/04/2019 21:07

Frozen spring rolls
Some of the party/sharing platters

MyDcAreMarvel · 23/04/2019 21:12

Their bags of own brand fish fingers are nice. They also sell frozen Greggs products Grin

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 23/04/2019 21:16

No Bull veggie range is good.
The fish which is on 3 for £10 is a good deal too, so long as you pick the more expensive fish like tuna.

bestbefore · 23/04/2019 21:20

I like the chicken popcorn - takes about 10 mins in the oven and lovely in a wrap with salad

LuxuryWoman2018 · 23/04/2019 21:22

The salmon parcels, Italian style icecream, cheese. The takeaway style curries are not at all bad.

Shouldershrugger · 23/04/2019 21:32

Clam in tomato herb sauce. Put together with spaghetti. Yummy! Done in 20 minutes..

applecatchers36 · 23/04/2019 21:36

Frozen fish, esp snapper, large prawns, the fish stew, sea bass in paper
Frozen mixed veg, esp quinoa with beans
Ice cream, frozen berries
The cleaning products are cheap have zoflora etc..

Warmhandscoldheart · 23/04/2019 21:40

Paella
Good choice of fish - 3 for £10

Bloody love Iceland

Lurleene · 23/04/2019 21:40

Breaded mushrooms for a pound a bag.

Three words: Hash Brown Fries. Yum!

PawPawNoodle · 23/04/2019 21:42

If they still sell them, the frozen Gregg's sausage rolls 😍

ExpletiveDelighted · 23/04/2019 21:45

Ours has all the room temp stuff that's on special offer that week just inside the door, you can get some good bargains on cereal etc. Also yes to frozen veg, fish, Greggs sausage rolls.

NicoAndTheNiners · 23/04/2019 21:46

Rhubarb and custard cornettos if they have them again this year.

They're v cheap for cakes, biscuits and tins of custard

Usernamesake · 23/04/2019 22:00

Our local one recently got 'posh' wine bin thingy, a la Aldi. The 2 reds i picked up last week were lovely and reasonably priced £6?.. ( sorry can't remember names....)
I also like bags of large prawns, low fat mince, and their own brand chicken breast fillet strips.
