What’s good in Iceland (supermarket!)?

Moving to a new house soon in an area that has an Iceland. New freezer to fill up Grin I work late sometimes so it’s handy to have quick dinner ideas. Just me and DP, no kids.

The chicken strips are so nice, the breaded ones. I have them at least twice a week! They do ice cream and lollies very cheap, good for kids. I stock up on Capri Suns to freeze and take out in summer, the diet Pepsi bottles they sell in 1.5l bottles for £1 which is way cheaper than the 2l bottles in the supermarket and less likely to go flat as I'm the only one who is allowed to drink drinks it. My dog is fed mostly on their 1k frozen beef mince for £3 and veg bags, usually broccoli and cauli 800g or broccoli, carrot and cauli 750g which are both £1. We boil it all up together with a stock cube and bag it and mix it in with her dry food for tea for 3 days a week.
Their watermelon slices are loved by my kids and are the right size for toddlers, my kids also love the cheese and onion sausage rolls. The multipack Walkers are usually on a good offer too, 2 for £3.

I bought this last week , it should of been £1 but was on offer 50p !
It's a rich thick spicy sauce . Poured over rice / pasta / jacket spud makes it a quick and tasty meal.

Their own version of white chocolate magnums - 4 for £1. My daughters like their mint cornettos too.

Maris Piper chips!

RoseDog · 24/04/2019 19:46

The sliced tiger bread loaves, if you buy jars of sauce their luxury pasta sauce, tomato and basil and the chicken tikka with the wee tub of spices on top is amazing.

I agree with everyone that says pizza, i had the fajita pizza last night!

Home77 · 24/04/2019 20:07

The frozen veg casserole pack makes a nice soup. They do home delivery free too over £35

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/04/2019 20:29

I second the tiger bread. Palm oil free too unlike other bread.

I liked the hot cross buns.

MrsJackman1 · 24/04/2019 20:39

Macaroni cheese with crab and a light touch of chilli. Seriously addictive 🤤
Hash brown fries.
Hot dog stuffed crust pizza
Sliced tiger bread
Their take away style Chinese and curry dishes
Frozen bagged paella, Singapore noodles etc.
Soooo much delicious stuff 🤗

Lindy2 · 24/04/2019 20:45

They do a salmon and pea risotto which you can cook in about 10 minutes. It is a really tasty and quick dinner. There are some similar noodle dishes too which are pretty good.
The gammon in honey roast is great and they also do frozen macarons which are nice.
I like Iceland. 😊

whitehalleve · 24/04/2019 20:55

Their frozen cauliflower rice is the nicest I've had from anywhere.

Katsu Chicken strips
Frozen Gregg's stuff
Beef dripping oven chips
Rainbow fries.
I need a trip to Iceland!

The chilli paneer was cheap because they’ve discontinued that range. I was gutted. Their kale bhajis were to die for.

I like their sweet potato fries, no bull burgers (stay away from anything with fake chicken though) and bean and quinoa mix.

AllGoodDogs · 24/04/2019 22:06

I did a bit Iceland shop last week, first time I've been in for ages and got loads, was surprised at the low cost. I got some of the hash brown fries but not found them in the freezer yet, thanks for the reminder!!

IsolaPribby · 24/04/2019 22:08

Try the Chateau Briand. It is very good indeed.

AsleepAllDay · 24/04/2019 22:10

I was always a sucker for their chocolate raspberry ice creams! Cheaper than Magnums and actually nicer. Frozen veg was also good

StealingYourWiFi · 28/04/2019 13:50

Thanks everyone! Hopefully in a couple of weeks we will be in the new house with a new freezer Grin love the sound of the quick frozen meal in a bag things.

Their prices are usually a round number of pounds, so if you know how much items are at your previous supermarket, you can stack up when Iceland is lower. Dd didn't like their cheese and tomato pizza but most items are at least OK.

MaisondeChats · 28/04/2019 17:52

Not a freezer item but their luxury coleslaw is the nicest coleslaw in our opinion.
